Why Mother's Day Matters To Dads
With Mother’s Day coming up I am sure most of you guys are making well thought out plans to get your wives a nice gift or trying to make the day memorable… or you’re just winging it like always. Here’s something unique you can give your spouse on her special day, and it’s a gift she will treasure and value for a lifetime.
When our kids were little, Mother’s Day was for giving Mom breakfast in bed…the day off with no house chores, making her home-made greeting cards, and maybe dining out in a nice restaurant. Husbands can give their wives jewelry or other tokens of appreciation and expressions of your undying love. Dads - How about making sure you are a good role model on this day (or every day for that matter)? Do your children understand how you feel about your wife? Do they see and hear it plainly and clearly?
Guys, this day is your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to teach your sons how to value the women they love. Show them how to respect and appreciate that one person, a lifetime partner in this business of raising a family. Make sure they learn that their mother is a very special person; somebody they can look up to and depend upon through thick and thin.
Let’s not forget that as Dads, we are also helping to shape our daughter’s self image by how we interact with their mother. You are setting the gold standard for her expectations of future boyfriends and ultimately a husband as well. I’m sure you want only the best for your little girl…why not for her mother as well?
Mother’s Day is a great opportunity for you to give your wife the gift of a caring, appreciative, and thoughtful husband who (by example) raises children to become even better parents and spouses.
