How to Watch the 2021 MLB Playoffs Without Cable
Attempts have been made by Major League Baseball to return to normal in 2021 with a full-season schedule (even though some positive Covid-19 tests have gotten in the way). Because there will only be 10 teams in the postseason this year, as opposed to the extended 16-team field last year, the playoffs will also seem more typical this year. The challenge of making it beyond the regular season will be more tough for clubs this year, and winning the World Series — well, that’s always difficult.
Fortunately, watching the playoffs without cable is far less difficult. Here’s how to watch the Major League Baseball playoffs without cable in 2021.

What Channels Are the MLB Playoffs On?: How to Watch Red Sox vs. Astros and Dodgers vs. Braves Without Cable
The most convenient method to watch the MLB playoffs without cable is to subscribe to a streaming service that provides access to the networks you are familiar with and like from cable — although without the extremely unappealingly expensive cable bill. However, channel selection may differ from provider to service, so you must be cautious while comparing services. To ensure that you can watch all of the networks that broadcast live MLB postseason activity, you should check your streaming capabilities.

- TV station TBS broadcasts all of the National League postseason games, including the NL Wild Card Game and the NL Championship Series.

NLDS is an abbreviation for National League of Democratic Socialists (Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants;Atlanta Braves vs. Milwaukee Brewers) Wild Card in the AL (New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox)
- ESPN: The American League Wild Card Game will be shown live on ESPN. However, it is the only MLB postseason game that will be shown on ESPN this year. A second “Statcast” of the same game is shown on ESPN2 as a backup.

How to Watch the MLB Playoffs Online and Over the Air Without Cable
Now that you know which networks broadcast exciting Major League Baseball playoff games, you’ll need to figure out how to watch them without cable. The most convenient method is to sign up for a live TV streaming service. Live TV streaming services, which are sometimes referred to as “skinny bundles” because of their condensed channel options (as well as their condensed price tags), are essentially improved versions of traditional cable or satellite services. The services are available online and on a variety of devices, and they provide excellent channels without the bloat associated with cable.
- We’ll go through some of our favorite thin bundles in the section below, as well as talk about free over-the-air television.
- You should be aware, however, that if you have a pay TV subscription as well as the MLB.TV app, that you may log in using your pay TV credentials to enable livestreams of postseason games.
- Here’s how you watch the Major League Baseball playoffs without having to pay for cable.
- DIRECTV Stream is a live television streaming service that is mostly owned by AT T.
- For those who want to watch the MLB Playoffs live, the AnyDIRECTV Stream subscription option is an excellent alternative.
- DIRECTV Stream provides access to every channel that you’ll need to watch playoff baseball, including the MLB Network.
- Hulu + Live TVprovides a plethora of excellent channels, including the vast majority of baseball stations that baseball fans are interested in at this time of year: FOX, FS1, ESPN, and TBS.
- For sports aficionados, fuboTV promotes itself as the greatest live TV streaming service available.
- FOX, FS1, ESPN, and MLB Network are among the channels available on fuboTV.
- FuboTV will be a good choice for American League fans, but fans of the National League may want to go elsewhere because, without TBS, fuboTV will be unable to broadcast the National League Wild Card game and the National League Championship Series.
- Try There is a slim bundle called ItSling TV that is meant to meet your needs.
FOX, FS1, TBS, MLB Network, and ESPN are among the channels available with Sling TV. That’s a fantastic line-up for baseball enthusiasts.
YouTube TV
You Tube TV is Google’s contribution into the skinny-bundle competition, and it’s a deserving contender. TBS, MLB Network, ESPN, and FOX are among the channels available on YouTube TV, which also has an excellent and user-friendly interface. More information on what to anticipate from this service may be found in our YouTube TV review.
Free Over-the-Air TV
Due to the fact that FOX owns the World Series broadcast rights, the most important games of the postseason will appear on the network’s main network. This implies that cord-cutters will be able to watch the big games for free on television. With an antenna, you’ll be able to pick up FOX (as well as the other major networks) for free over the air in most regions throughout the country. You may use our handy antenna guide if you’re not sure which antenna is best for your needs.
MLB Gameday Audioand Other Radio Solutions
We enjoy the MLB.TV streaming service, but it is not possible to watch playoff games with only MLB.TV – the service requires a pay TV subscription in order to view postseason games. However, there is some good news: MLB Audio is included with your MLB.TV subscription, so you can listen to the games all the way through the postseason with no interruptions. That means you can use the MLB At Bat app to listen to your local radio broadcasters call each game (none of that “unbiased” crap — and no Joe Buck — will be available).
If you aren’t set on listening to local radio broadcasts, you might instead tune in to ESPN Radio’s nationwide coverage of the events.
You could, of course, just use a conventional radio if you wanted.
MLB radio broadcasts are particularly well suited to baseball, and if you have never tried listening rather than watching, you should give it a try!

How to watch the 2021 MLB playoffs in the U.S.
The Major League Baseball playoffs in 2021 will be broadcast on a number of different networks. As previously stated, games will be broadcast on ESPN, TBS, Fox, FS1, and the Major League Baseball Network. In order to ensure that you are able to see all of the playoff action, regardless of where it is being aired, there are many steps you may do. Despite the fact that the opening game of the MLB playoffs will be the only one broadcast on ESPN, the sports network will go all-out in its coverage of the legendary battle between The New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox.

You don’t have to be in the United States (or even the United Kingdom) to follow the Major League Baseball playoffs in 2021 from the opening pitch to the last out. MLB has released a list of all of the international broadcasters that will be covering the games, but if you’ve completely cut the cord and none of these alternatives are instantly available to you, you can still use a VPN, or virtual private network, to watch the games. In order to allow users to watch information on an encrypted feed through a computer, a virtual private network (VPN) is designed to route network traffic through a certain set of servers located in a given region.

The same as with the other live-TV services listed below are no installation fees, no equipment fees, and no contracts to be signed.
Users of Roku devices should be aware that YouTube TV is not presently accessible in the Roku channel store.
When this article was published, YouTube TV was providing new customers a free trial, after which they would receive a $10 reduction off a monthly membership fee (for the first three months).

DirecTV Stream
DirecTV is a satellite television service (screenshot) The freshly announced, renamed live-TV streaming service (formerly known as AT T TV) follows the same model as YouTube TV, which offers no contracts, no hassles, and a plethora of channels. Furthermore, cable veterans will be familiar with the company’s tiered bundles and pricing. As far as the World Series in 2021 is concerned, any of the monthly subscriptions offered by DirecTV Stream will suffice – subject to availability in your service region, of course.

Hulu Plus Live TV
Hulu is accessible through Facebook. In addition to more than 75 channels, a typical Hulu Plus Live TV subscription (which is normally priced at $65 per month) provides access to your local Fox station (if one exists). Hulu Plus Live TV has an advantage over its competitors in that it offers on-demand programming. Hulu’s standard, ad-supported service, which includes its original programming, such as “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “Only Murders in the Building,” is included. You may get a list of the most recent shows on Hulu by clicking here.

FuboTV

As of the time of publishing, FuboTV was providing new customers with a free trial. FuboTV will broadcast the Major League Baseball playoffs in 2021. (subscription required)
Sling TV
Sling TV may be accessed using Facebook. Fox may be available in your coverage region if you subscribe to Sling TV’s $35-a-month “Blue” tier, which includes more than 40 channels for $35 per month. Currently, Sling TV was giving its “Blue” plan to new consumers at a discounted rate of just $10 for the first month as of the time of publishing. Sling TV will broadcast the Major League Baseball playoffs in 2021. (subscription required)
Indoor HD digital TV antenna
Amazon is a great place to get it. This amplified, indoor HD digital TV antenna from U Must Have will transmit the live World Series games broadcast by Fox to your HDTV screen – as well as everything else offered by the other free, digital channels in your area – for a one-time fee of only $29. There is no monthly charge or subscription required. Simply connect the U Must Have to your television and sit back and enjoy. It’s a throwback to the television viewing experience of the twentieth century, but with 21st century technology.
To avoid making things more complicated, keep in mind that the reason cable TV became a thing was because some locations just did not receive adequate television reception.
And one more thing: as previously said, live-TV streaming services cannot ensure that you will receive all of your local television stations.
An indoor HD digital TV antenna is required, and costs $29 per year.
MLB.TV
Hunter Martin is a Getty Images contributor. Our final and most straightforward choice is to subscribe to MLB.TV, which allows you to watch every single World Series game – no ifs, ands, or buts about it. There is one important condition, however: if you are a real cord-cutter (i.e., you do not have a television provider), you will not be able to watch the games live. (Local-TV bans will apply to MLB.TV viewers who do not subscribe to a television service provider, so nothing is perfect.) The World Series games will be available to stream on MLB.TV for all customers 90 minutes after they have concluded on the network.
When this article was published, a new MLB.TV membership could be purchased for $24.99.

MLB Playoffs 2021: Full Schedule, TV Info, Dates for Entire World Series Bracket
Ashley Landis for the Associated Press It is the month of October. It’s postseason baseball season. The San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers were the two greatest teams in the National League during the regular season, and they were both from the NL West. The Giants and Dodgers were in a constant struggle for first place throughout the season. In the end, the Giants won the division and earned the top seed in the playoffs by finishing first in the standings. The two clubs couldn’t be more diametrically opposed.
- No one was shocked to see the Los Angeles Lakers in the postseason.
- They are ranked tenth in terms of salary, but they have benefited from strong seasons from players like as Brandon Belt, Brandon Crawford, and Mike Yastrzemski, who have all had productive seasons.
- At the beginning of the season, the notion that two clubs from the National League West would make the postseason would not have come as a surprise.
- The Dodgers, on the other hand, were victorious in the Division Series, defeating the Giants.
- Because of a strong rotation, a dominant bullpen, and a lineup that revolved around Luis Urias and Avisail Garcia in mid-September, the Milwaukee Brewers have been on cruise control since then as a significant threat to the National League Central.
- They have shown to be a model of tenacity, surviving a season-ending injury to sensation Ronald Acuna Jr.
- Not bad for a club that didn’t even finish above.500 until August 6, and is now the World Series winner after defeating Milwaukee, Los Angeles, and Houston in the finals of the World Series.
- After everything was said and done, the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees were both invited to the postseason, setting up a wild-card showdown between the two bitter rivals.

A respectable showing from the squad with the fifth-lowest payroll in baseball.
The Rays, on the other hand, have developed into one of the best-run organizations in baseball, if not all of professional sports.
For their part, the Houston Astros are in the postseason for the fifth consecutive season and the sixth time in seven years.
The Chicago White Sox, headed by Tim Anderson, Jose Abreu, the 2020 American League MVP, and a strong rotation, appeared to be a serious danger.
