When the lockout ends and a new collective bargaining agreement is reached, free agency and trades would commence immediately.

- The deadline for a new collective-bargaining agreement is March 1. If a new collective-bargaining agreement is not completed by that date, the start of the 2022 Major League Baseball season will be postponed. MLB Opening Day: March 31 — This date is subject to change depending on the outcome of the MLB lockout.

How to watch MLB games on Opening Day
As many people are aware, regional sports networks (RSNs) currently control the Major League Baseball landscape, which means that your favorite team’s home game will be shown on their local RSN if the game is not broadcast nationally. During the first day of the season, four games will be broadcast nationally on ESPN: the Yankees vs the Blue Jays (1:05 p.m. ET), the Rockies versus the Dodgers (4:10 p.m. ET), the Nationals versus the Mets (7:09 p.m. ET), and the Athletics versus the Astros (11:05 p.m.
ET).
There are various choices available to persons who are not involved in the cable business:
MLB live streams for Opening Day
Major League Baseball streams may be divided into three groups. All of them have major constraints, which means that a mix of alternatives is essential to ensure that every game is accessible.
MLB TV
MLB TV broadcasts games, with the exception of those involving your local, in-market clubs. As is always the case, blackout limitations are in effect. A single team subscription to MLB TV costs $109.99 per season, $129.99 per year, $24.99 per month, or $129.99 per month.
Network apps
Most of the major sports networks, such as ESPN and Fox Sports, have their own streaming applications, which are typically included with a cable subscription.
However, as is often the case, blackout limitations apply, and ESPN+, which costs $5.99 per month, is another potential option for baseball fans looking to catch some action this season.
Online streaming bundles
If you don’t have cable, you have a few alternative options, including the following: YouTube TV is $64.99 per month, while Hulu + Live TV is $54.99 per month, according to the company. Sling TV and fuboTV are other choices for individuals who live in areas where NBC Sports channels are available.
