Chicago Cubs

Baseball is more than just a form of entertainment for Chicagoans; it’s a way of life for them. And, for Cubs supporters, seeing their club win the World Series in 2016 was the ultimate reward for their devotion to the organization. In addition to being one of just a few cities in the United States to have two Major League Baseball clubs, Chicago and its baseball fans split their loyalty between theChicago Cubson the North Side and theChicago White Soxon the South Side. Take a look at the Chicago Cubs’ upcoming schedule.

The Crosstown Classic

This is the most sought-after ticket in the city. As part of their interleague schedule, the Chicago Cubs will face off against their longtime foe, the Chicago White Sox, for a chance to claim the ultimate in hometown bragging rights.at least until they play again next year. Check out the schedule and tickets.

Wrigley Field

Wrigley Field is one of the most spectacular stadiums in all of professional sports, and it is hard to find a better place to watch a game. When you enter the “Friendly Confines,” you’ll be welcomed by a gorgeous environment that includes an iconic ivy-covered outfield and a vintage scoreboard that is still operated by hand today. Wrigley Field, which first opened its doors in 1914, is the second-oldest baseball stadium in the United States. Take the official Wrigley Field Tour for the ultimate behind-the-scenes experience as a Cubs fan.

Take a stroll around the grounds, stop by the press box, and have a chance to walk onto the field and into the clubhouses. Tours are offered on a daily basis and will leave you with a greater understanding of the nearly 100 years of history that lies within the stadium’s walls.

Game day experience

During the seventh inning stretch, there’s nothing quite like the crunch of peanut shells under your shoes, the taste of a Vienna beef hot dog, and the echoes of “Take Me Out to The Ball Game,” which is being performed by celebrities to honor the legacy of Cubs announcer Harry Caray, who passed away last year. Fans of all ages pack the stadium, and the time-honored custom of going to a Cubs game is something to be cherished for many years. The First Timers Booth, located on the right field concourse, will provide you with a certificate to commemorate the moment if it is your child’s first baseball game.

5 Cubs traditions to know

1. Raise the American flag. Every victory for the Cubs at Wrigley Field has been commemorated since 937 by the raising of a white flag with a large blue “W” in the center. 2. Go Cubs! Go Cubs Go! While Cubs players greet one another on the field and supporters applaud in the seats, Steve Goodman’s 1984 song, “Go Cubs Go!” will be blasting throughout the radio as the team celebrates its victory. It has now become the official victory song of the Chicago Cubs. The ivy rule is number three. Chicago Cubs President William Veeck planted the ivy on the outfield walls of Wrigley Field in 1937, and it is the only major league baseball park with this feature.

  • However, if the defender attempts to retrieve the ball out of the ivy, there will be no ground rule double ruling.
  • Observation from the roof In addition to the presence of large residential structures behind the stadium with a view of the ballgame, Wrigley Field also has a number of other distinguishing features.
  • 5.
  • They will also get the opportunity to see the 2016 Championship Trophy, which is housed in the Trophy Room, which also contains World Series treasures.

Wrigleyville neighborhood

Game day in the Wrigleyvilleneighborhood brings the entire area to life, generating an infectious amount of energy — something like to a fever pitch — to which no one is immune. For many hours before and after the game, the streets, particularly the intersection of Clark and Addison Streets, are thronging with baseball fans savoring food, beverages, and other activities. There are hundreds of restaurant and bar options within walking distance of the stadium, including popular choices such as: Located across the street from Wrigley Field, Murphy’s Bleachers is a typical corner pub with a rooftop.

Sports Corner: The celebrations continue at Sports Corner, a bi-level pub located directly across the street from Wrigley Field.

In the case of Casey Moran: This Irish-influenced gastropub is spacious, warm, and inviting, and it features six full bars, 30 plasma TVs, an outside patio (with a retractable cover in case of rain), a VIP room, and a rooftop garden on the top floor.

Sluggers: The name alone tells you everything you need to know about this group of players: Batting cage, skeeball, arcade games, dueling pianos, and two levels of fully supplied bars are among the amenities available.

Getting to the game

Cubs fans are highly urged to take public transit to Wrigley Field in order to get there for the lowest price and the greatest convenience. The Addison stop on the Red Line of the Chicago Transit Authority gives direct access to the stadium. Fans may transfer to Red Line trains from any other rail lines, as well as from the majority of east-west bus routes, including the Metro. Prepare for your trip in advance by gathering transit and parking information as well as driving directions.

Where to stay

Gallagher Way is home to the Zachary Hotel. This new child on the block, inspired by the designs of world-renowned Wrigley Field architect and Chicagoan Zachary Taylor Davis, is located just across the street from Wrigley Field and promises to provide a true neighborhood feel. Big Star, West Town Bakery, and Smoke Daddy are just a few of the restaurants located within the hotel. The Majestic Hotel is a luxurious establishment. The small 52-room hotel in East Lakeview has the feel of an English manor, thanks to its firelit lobby, recently refurbished public areas, and dramatic décor that evokes an English estate.

  1. All of this is within walking distance of Wrigley Field.
  2. There is also complimentary breakfast, WiFi, and lockers.
  3. This lovely, award-winning hotel is located in the heart of bustling Lakeview East, and it offers a range of packages, including Bleachers or Bust!, that will make you feel like you’re a part of the community.
  4. Wrigley Field is located at 1060 W.

Afternoon baseball is returning to Wrigley in 2021

CubsAfternoon baseball will return to Wrigley Field in 2021, according to the team. On Thursday, Major League Baseball published the start times for every game in the 2018 season, which includes 47 of the Cubs’ 81 home games slated to begin at 1:20 p.m. on Friday. The first of those 47 games will take place on Opening Day, when the Cubs and Pirates will square off at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Baseball reset the two-month season last year without taking into account spectator attendance, and found that a night schedule was more convenient for team travel logistics.

Other notable 1:20 starts include those on Memorial Day against the Reds, July 11 against the Cardinals (the final game in the first half), Aug.

24-26 against St.

The calendar is subject to change for a variety of reasons, including whether or not games are selected for national broadcast and how COVID-19 will effect the schedule. You can see the whole schedule by clicking here. Today is the day to get MyTeams!

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chicago Cubs (9/24/21) – MLB

The St. Louis Cardinals’ Paul Goldschmidt hits an RBI-sacrifice fly during the seventh inning of a baseball game against the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday, Sept. 20, 2021, in Milwaukee, according to a press release. (Photo courtesy of Aaron Gash/AP) AP There are just a few of weeks left in the Major League Baseball regular season, and the teams that will be competing for a postseason spot are beginning to emerge. As part of a doubleheader on Friday, the St. Louis Cardinals will seek to build on their recent success and further remove themselves from the rest of the National League’s Wild Card battle as they take on the Chicago Cubs in the National League.

  • They are not officially out of the fight for first place in the National League Central, but it will be difficult to overtake the Milwaukee Brewers, who are 7.5 games ahead of St.
  • They have had an outstanding month of September, as they are now riding a 12-game winning streak and are 16-6 so far this month.
  • Nevertheless, the Cubs had a horrendous losing streak in late June and early July that left them sliding to fourth place in the division.
  • With a 9-10 record through the first ten games of September, they have looked a little better in the spoiler role they have taken on.
