Arkansas Baseball: Dave Van Horn’s Team Releases Full 54-game Schedule

Arkansas’ baseball season for 2022 was announced on Wednesday afternoon, with 14 of the first 17 games taking place at Baum-Walker Stadium. In total, there will be 54 regular-season games, including ten conference series, and the return of Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock, which has been a much-anticipated comeback. The defending SEC champions will start the season, which will be the 100th in school history, with a three-game series against Illinois State (Feb. 18-20). During the 2022 season, the Hogs will make their first of two excursions to minor league ballparks, which will take place the following weekend at the Round Rock Classic in Round Rock, Texas (Feb.

  1. Arkansas will take on Indiana, Stanford, and Louisiana on FloBaseball at Dell Diamond, which serves as the home of the Texas Rangers’ Triple-A club Round Rock Express.
  2. (March 10-13).
  3. (April 19-20).
  4. In every season since 2010, the Arkansas Hogs have played a non-conference game at the home of the Seattle Mariners’ Double-A club Arkansas Travelers.

Coach Dave Van Horn and the Arkansas Razorbacks open SEC action at home against Kentucky (March 18-20), and they will also host a number of other SEC opponents, including Mississippi State (April 1-3), LSU (April 14-16), Ole Miss (April 29-May 1), and Vanderbilt (May 13-15) later in the season.

The Hogs will play at Missouri, Florida, Texas A&M, and Auburn (May 19-21).

Likewise, the SEC Tournament (which runs from May 24-29) will be held at Hoover, Ala., for the 23rd year in a row and for the 25th time in the tournament’s existence. All games and timings are subject to change in order to accommodate television designations, which will be revealed at a later date.

After Solid 50-Win, Razorback Baseball Reload is ahead of schedule

I anticipated that this club will make it to Omaha about the midway point of the 2021 season. When it came to the pitching staff, there were a lot of unknowns before the start of the season. What I didn’t anticipate was that the season would come crashing down in the Super Regional after things were rolling, with national plaudits pouring in week after week and the team winning the SEC Tournament and regular season title on the way. A large number of supporters on social media were quick to condemn this squad following their 3-2 loss to NC State, stating that it was “Omaha or bust.” That’s not even a correct statement to make.

  1. The Hogs suffered a significant loss of skill throughout the summer.
  2. The pitching was going to be a source of contention.
  3. This squad did not “suck,” nor did they appear to be “pathetic,” as many of the people who filled my DM’s said they were.
  4. To get into TD Ameritrade twice in a row is difficult enough, but three times would’ve been out of the ordinary, I agree.
  5. There’s nothing sad about this year’s football season at all.
  6. The Wolfpack traveled to Fayetteville and won a spot in the NCAA tournament in Omaha.
  7. Something I suspect we will ever see done in Fayetteville for a long time will be completed.

There were a lot of them, and they were all unforgettable.

In that game, he went on to smash two home runs, one of which was an unbelievable bat flip, after being energized by the “Oompa Loompa” chant.

RBI, Charlie Welch, is a name that everyone knows.

Welch will go down in Razorback history as a result of his championship-clinching hits.

In Kopps, they possessed a pitcher who was unbeatable, finishing the season with a 0.66 earned run average.

It is possible that the Hogs may have a strong defense again next season, with standouts Jalen Battles (assuming he does not go pro) and Moore controlling the center of the field.

Those two are virtually always a sure-fire double-double. Despite not making it to Omaha, this defeat to NC State will define the season for the majority of supporters. This club, on the other hand, far surpassed preseason projections and took a lot of people by surprise, including me.

Razorbacks announce 54 baseball games for 2022

The University of Arkansas’s head coach, Dave Van Horn, signed a contract extension this week that would increase his compensation to $1.25 million and prolong his deal through 2026 with automatic one-year rollovers every season, which would carry him all the way through 2031. (Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette/Andy Shupe) FAYETTEVILLE, SC (WIS) – Weekend home series versus four schools who competed in the NCAA super regionals last season, including both teams that competed for the national title, will highlight Arkansas’ baseball schedule in 2022.

  • Two more midweek games may be confirmed at a later date.
  • A road series against Texas A&M, Auburn, Alabama, Missouri and Florida will round out Arkansas’ SEC schedule.
  • It is the first of three weekend nonconference series to be held in Fayetteville this year.
  • The Round Rock (Texas) Classic will take place on Feb.
  • A three-game home series versus Kentucky is slated for March 18-20 to kick off SEC action for the Razorbacks.
  • Additionally, Arkansas is set to return to Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock for a game versus Central Arkansas on April 26th of the following season.
  • The Bears will play at Fayetteville on April 5, and the North Little Rock game will be the first of two meetings between the two teams.
  • The only thing that is known about Arkansas’ games in 2022 is the dates.

By The Numbers

The date is May 26, 2021. There has never been a better year to be a fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks on the baseball field than the year 2021. The Arkansas Razorbacks baseball team (40-10, 20-8 in the SEC) has been named No. 1 for 12 straight weeks, with eight of those rankings coming from a unanimous vote of the media. The Arkansas Razorbacks softball team (43-9) won their second-ever regional championship last weekend and will host the super regional for the first time in program history this weekend.

  1. As the postseason approaches, a College World Series victory for either team isn’t out of the question, especially given how well they’ve performed throughout their respective competitions.
  2. They’ve advanced to the College World Series six times in the last 17 years and have made 16 trips in the NCAA tournament since Dave Van Horn took over as coach in 2003.
  3. Van Horn and the Razorbacks were faced with a number of unexpected obstacles as a result of the epidemic.
  4. However, they gradually got the hang of things.
  5. In addition, they might be really significant individuals, which causes a minor disruption in the flow of events.
  6. “They can’t win if they don’t work together,” Van Horn stated.
  7. After undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2018, he bounced back with a 3.89 ERA and a 6-3 record in 41.2 innings in 2019.

In Van Horn’s words, Kevin “seemed to come out of nowhere.” “We could see it in the fall because we didn’t hit him,” says the team’s coach.

And then I’d hear some of the players say things like, “Man, I hate hitting off Kevin.” Kopps has a 0.76 earned run average, a 9-0 record, and eight saves in 25 appearances (59.1 innings thrown) this season.

“They want to hang out here at the facility, and we have some pretty good amenities, but you can see they get along well with one another.

They simply continue to toil and struggle.

And, you know, if everything goes according to plan, this may be our year.” Courtney Deifel has elevated the softball team to the same level as the baseball program during her six-year tenure as head coach.

Despite the fact that she has turned the program around, it is still something she does not like to talk about.

After falling down 10-3 in the first four innings of their season opener against Oklahoma State in Monroe, Louisiana, at the Best on the Bayou Classic, they were forced to play a marathon 12-11 loss.

“It was a slugfest because of the poor conditions,” she remarked of the game.

The thought crosses my mind: “This squad is going to do some things this year.” As the season continued, the Razorbacks proved Deifel correct in his assessment of them.

This was the beginning of a 19-game winning streak for the team, which included their first 12 SEC games.

11 Arizona in the super regional on Friday (7 p.m.

The Razorbacks were forced to acquire resilience as a result of the pandemic issues, particularly when it came to needing to leave players at home for extended periods of time.

“‘Who we have is as important as who we need.’ “And that’s exactly what we’ve been doing all year.” As Braxton Burnside put it, the game “truly prepared us for everything that may come our way in the postseason.” “However, you can bet that this squad will be competitive and resilient on a day-to-day basis, and that we will have a good time while doing it.” Burnside possesses one of the team’s most explosive bats and adds significantly to the team’s overall enjoyment.

In 47 games, she had a.347 batting average in 144 at bats, 51 RBIs, and a team-high 24 home runs, all of which are personal bests.

A fantastic diving catch by Arkansas infielder Nicole Duncan on a bunt from third base was deemed worthy of being included among SportsCenter’s top plays, and the team thought that it should have been.

As Deifel described it, the coach “says something along the lines of, ‘That’s alright guys, she undoubtedly has teammates that pump her up like we do.'” Then, in that moment, I thought, ‘You know, she might need that; but I don’t need it because I have colleagues who hype me up,’ and that was the essence of what it was all about.

Although schedules normally do not allow for a great deal of overlap, players will try to attend one other’s games when it is possible.

Because all they do is win and smash home runs, Van Horn said, “this year has been primarily ‘Congratulations!’ because that’s all they do.” When Deifel comes off the field, “one of the first texts I receive is from Dave,” he says, “I can’t even tell you how many times it has happened.” You have this continual sense of support from one another,” says the narrator of the film.

He’s paying attention to every one of our games.

It’s simply such a tight-knit sports department, and everyone is so supportive of one another, that you want everyone to perform really well.

It’s simply that you want to be a part of it as well.

“It’s starting to remind me a little bit of Baylor, particularly the men’s and women’s basketball teams,” Kopps said. The fact that both of our teams could go out and achieve something like that would be fantastic.
