Ask The Experts: How Much Are My Signed Jackie Robinson Photo And Yankees Balls Worth?

Dad was a member of the television production crew that created the Red Barber post-game TV show at Yankee Stadium in the late 1950s and early 1960s, when the Yankees were playing there. They also created the television advertising for Ballantine Beer, which was the official beer of the New York Yankees at the time. He has a number of artifacts that would be of interest to collectors in his collection. It is planned that the opening and closing shots of the Red Barber post-game TV show will be of a statue or caricature of Red.

  2. A team from CTI examined your collection and shared it with Jonathan Scheier, a consignment director for Heritage, a top sports auction house in Dallas that valued it in the neighborhood of $1 million.
  3. Since announcer Mel Allen developed the term “It’s a Ballantine blast” to describe a Yankees home run during the team’s illustrious era in the 1950s and 1960s, the beer business has been synonymous with the franchise.
  4. According to the New York Yankees insignia on the scoreboard and the Los Angeles Dodgers outfits, the shot was taken during an Old Timer’s game in the old Yankee Stadium during your father’s time period.
  5. “Scans and photographs cannot be used to validate a signature,” Keurajian explains.
  6. According to Scheier, autographed photographs of Robinson may be purchased for $1,500 each.
  7. “Signed photographs are rare, and 8s10 photographs are even more so.

In addition to his accomplishments on the field, Jackie Robinson is the most significant player in baseball history because of the courage he embodied in crossing the color line, a narrative that was beautifully recounted in the film42 and will be included in a Ken Burns documentary that will premiere in 2015.

  2. Eddie Lopat, Vic Raschi, and Allie Reynolds were the cornerstones of the Yankees’ illustrious starting pitching rotation.
  3. The statue of Red Barber, who is considered to be one of the greatest baseball commentators of all time, is your prop, as you mentioned.

  5. “Wow, that’s pretty great,” says Scheier.
  6. According to the results of a cost-benefit analysis, it may be worthwhile to restore the knee and other components.
  7. “Some stars would subcontract the chore of signing autographs to a secretary, spouse, or clubhouse attendants, as he writes in his book.” Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, and Joe Jackson are just a few of the players that have been accused of using ghost signers in the past.

Typically, secretarial signatures are not signed in such a way that they resemble the intended signature.

One limitation is the likely unavailability of a real Mantle autograph, and the autograph of Roger Maris, Mantle’s slugging partner, would have to be investigated in greater detail as well.

Scheier estimates that balls, even those with Mantle’s clubhouse autograph, may fetch $500 to $800 on the secondary market, particularly if they are in such excellent shape as yours are.

The official is valued anywhere from 10 percent to 20 percent more than the ordinary citizen.

I believe this is correct.

Photographs of Hall of Famers from the post-war era have a shockingly low monetary value, according to Scheier, who estimates that they are worth less than $50 each.

Press passes similar to the ones your father has amassed may be purchased for $15-$20, according to Scheier. Given their vivid representations of your father’s illustrious and peripatetic career, I feel that these items should be passed down to future generations as family treasures.

1948 Jackie Robinson Single Signed Baseball. Autographs

sold on November 11, 2011 for the price of: not sold

Description

1948 Baseball with Jackie Robinson’s signature on it. While most baseball historians consider the Babe to be the most significant character in the twentieth century, there is a compelling case to be made for this man, who used his Hall of Fame skills and quiet fortitude to stand up to the insults and threats of the prejudiced masses. The song on offer is a magnificent and extremely rare early-career cut that is vying for the title of “Finest Jackie Robinson Single Ever Known to Exist.” We’ll start with the appropriate medium, the ONL (Frick) model baseball that Robinson was presented with upon making his historic Dodgers debut in 1947.

Despite the fact that Robinson’s side panel signature is unpersonalized, it receives an astounding 9+/10, with the autograph remaining as bold as the day it was put to the panel.

29, 1948,” according to an unknown handwriting on the ball’s sweet spot, is the date of a doubleheader between the Bums and the Dodgers that took place at Sportsman’s Park, where Robinson encountered some of the ugliest protests during his early years as a member of the Dodgers’ traveling staff.

Complete letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
