How Much Is A Chipper Jones Baseball Card Worth

Chipper Jones Rookie Cards: The Ultimate Collector’s Guide

Given the fact that Chipper Jones is a highly sought-after rookie card, it should come as no surprise that his rookie cards are in such great demand. Many collectors consider him to be one of the finest switch hitters the game has ever seen, and he continues to be a favorite of many. Like many other players of his generation, he owns a number of rookie cards from various companies, some of which are more valuable than others. And some of them may fetch hundreds of dollars on the open market. Regardless of their monetary value, each of his rookie cards has an own backstory.

1991 Bowman569

PSA 10 is estimated to be worth $40. As one of five Hall of Famers to have a rookie in this set (the others being Jim Thome, Edgar Martinez, Mike Mussina, and Ivan Rodriguez), Jones was one of five Hall of Famers to have a rookie in this set. However, despite the fact that it is not nearly as pricey as some of the others on this list, I believe it is the most visually appealing of any on the list. The design and picture that Bowman utilized on the card give it a classic look and feel that you might expect from a vintage card from the 1960s, which is exactly what you get.

Speaking of Mantle, Jones’ father was such a tremendous fan of the Yankee hero that he instilled in his son the ability to switch hit like his idol from a young age.

1991 O-Pee-Chee333

PSA 10 is estimated to be worth $175. On the surface, this card seems to be the same as the standard 1991 Topps Jones rookie card. However, if you turn the card over and check at the bottom of the back, you’ll notice that this edition was printed by O-Pee-Chee, a Canadian competitor of Topps. In addition, you’ll find a French version of the blurb praising Jones’ accomplishments and prospective future in the gallery. Furthermore, because these cards were made and marketed in the smaller Canadian baseball card market, there aren’t as many good quality examples of them to be found as there are of other types of cards.

1991 Score671

PSA 10 is estimated to be worth $15. Based only on the design, you can tell that this is a Score baseball card from a mile away. The color palette, the layout, the typefaces, and the backdrop are all excellent choices. This is pure Score all the way through and out. Because these cards were mass-produced in such large quantities, the market remains saturated with them, which has a significant negative impact on their value. You may expect to spend approximately $15 or so for a PSA 10 condition example of one of them.

1991 Topps333

PSA 10 is estimated to be worth $20. The 1991 Topps, which was almost as inexpensive as his Score rookie card, was the result of the same degree of overproduction. No matter how you look at it, the design is far superior to its Score counterpart, and it is one of the most famous baseball cards to come out of the 1990s. In addition, if you collect Jones rookie cards, you should become accustomed to this design because it appears everywhere. The identical design is featured on the O-Pee-Chee (which you may have seen before), Topps Desert Shield, Topps Micro, and Topps Tiffany, all of which are Topps products.

Need a refresher on why the baseball card boom broke in the late 1980s and early 1990s? Look no farther than here. It was due of this sort of market saturation, which was brought about by high print numbers of basic cards, as well as the introduction of a plethora of parallels and variations.

1991 Topps Desert Shield333

PSA 10 is estimated to be worth $13,500. What gives this card such a high monetary value? Everything boils down to a basic game of supply and demand. Topps produced an extremely limited print run of these unique cards (which can be identified by the foil insignia in the top right corner of the front of the card) to be sent to troops participating in Operation Desert Storm in the United States. As a result of the limited print volume to begin with, only a few number of them were able to withstand military combat conditions and return home in perfect shape.

1991 Topps Micro333

PSA 10 is estimated to be worth $375. To be precise, the 1991 Topps Micro card is just a smaller version of the standard 1991 Topps card, measuring 1 1/8″ by 1-3/8″. Because they were part of a factory set, there weren’t as many of them made as there were of the ordinary Topps base card. This makes them more difficult to get by, but they are still pretty easy to come by. You can see in the image below how little the mini version is in comparison to the standard version of the game.

1991 Topps Tiffany333

PSA 10 is estimated to be worth $1800. Topps began releasing “Tiffany” cards in the 1980s as a compliment to their normal base issues, which became popular at the time. Premium-quality cards with glossy fronts and dazzling white card paper were included in these special factory sets, which were only available in limited quantities. Even if you hold any Topps card next to a Tiffany edition, you’ll be able to notice the difference right away. The Tiffany product line was discontinued by Topps following the 1991 Topps and 1991 Topps Traded releases, thus this card has increased relevance in that sense.

1991 Upper Deck55

PSA 10 is estimated to be worth $20. Although the quality of the Upper Deck Jones rookie card is superior to that of the Bowman, Score, and Topps issues from the same year, the value of the card is not much different. Again, as with many other cards from this era, there were just far too many of them made for their value to remain particularly high for an extended period of time. I’ve always enjoyed the basic look and feel of this card, as well as the wonderful, colorful image of a young Jones preparing to go onto the field on the back.

Chipper Jones’ Legacy

I am not a fan of the Atlanta Braves, but I used to like watching Chipper Jones play when I was a youngster. A really fearsome presence in the batter’s box, he competed with everyone else in terms of intensity. Following 19 seasons in the Majors, all spent with the Braves, Jones would retire from the game.

With 2,726 hits, 468 home runs, and 1,623 RBI, he has a 303 batting average. With numbers like those, he is unquestionably Hall of Fame material, and he was easily inducted into Cooperstown in 2018. Some of his most significant accomplishments are as follows:

  • A nine-time All-Star, the 1995 World Series champion, the National League MVP (1999), a two-time Silver Slugger Award winner, and the MLB Batting Champion in 2008

Because Jones was such a gifted player, his rookie cards will continue to be among of the most sought-after rookie cards in the history of the baseball card industry for a long time.

ADD TO CARTA The ‘Desert Shield’ cards from the 1991 Topps set were handed to members of the United States Army who had participated in Operation Desert Storm. 1991 Chipper Jones Topps Tiffany RC333

INCLUDE IN CARTA Another Topps variety from 1991, the Tiffany is a higher-end version of the basic card that is created with higher-quality stock materials and a glossier finish. (1991 was also the final year in which Topps published Tiffany cards, greatly boosting the value of these cards.) A profile image of Jones holding a baseball bat replaces the previous card’s image of Jones holding the baseball bat. When you hold them up side by side, though, you will be able to detect the difference right immediately.

SAVE THE ITEM TO YOUR CART In addition to being part of the same collection as the renowned 1993 Derek Jeter SP FOIL rookie card, this card is often forgotten by the enthusiast community. 10 Hall of Fame-Worthy Chipper Jones Cards

Chipper Jones is virtually a lock to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in the Class of 2018. He’s regarded as one of the all-time finest third basemen in the history of the game. Also incredibly popular are Chipper Jones cards when it comes to collecting in the hobby. Chipper Jones was the first overall choice in the 1990 Major League Baseball Draft, and the first Chipper Jones baseball cards were released the following year. There are multiple sets of Rookie Cards that he owns, and practically all of them are quite simple to come by these days.

Chipper’s climb into baseball legend occurred at a time when the sport saw some tremendous highs and lows.

Chipper Jones has a plethora of inserts that are both unusual and eye-catching.

Even after retiring, he continues to be a regular signer for sets.

Given the plethora of Chipper Jones trading cards available, here are ten standout choices that would be worthy of a Hall of Fame career. Despite the fact that they are not the most valued, they are all noteworthy for their own reasons.

1991 O-Pee-Chee Chipper Jones RC333

If you’re looking for a Chipper Jones rookie card (or a hundred of them), you’ll have no trouble finding one. That was the truth of practically every card issued in 1991, and it remains so now. The 1991 O-Pee-Chee Chipper Jones, on the other hand, is a bit of a dark horse. From the front, it looks exactly like his Topps Rookie Card from the previous year. The reverse of the card is very identical to the front, with the exception of the fact that it is printed on a much more vibrant white material and that it includes the bilingual text.

However, they are unusual enough that you won’t be able to locate a collection of them as you would with most other cards from the era, which is somewhat related to the time period.

1991 Topps Desert Shield Chipper Jones333

When the first Iraq war broke out, Topps produced a limited-edition run of their 1991 set exclusively for the soldiers on the front lines. A little gold foil logo on the front distinguishes these cards from the rest of the 1991 Topps Baseball set, which was released at the same time. It goes without saying that the 1991 Topps Desert Shield Chipper Jones card is extremely difficult to come by. However, the historical significance of the set adds an additional element of interest. It provides a narrative for the card.

How many troops have access to card-making supplies?

Consequently, even those that did survive had a number of rough edges and dinged corners.

Some of the characteristics of a genuine card include a rounded bottom and precise accents throughout the gold logo, to name a few.

1991 Topps Tiffany Chipper Jones333

Chipper Jones was only available as part of a box set in 1991, and he was another challenging variation on the original Topps set. Consider it a more expensive variant, distinguished mostly by its high-gloss finish. That can be difficult to detect in a photograph, but it is definitely evident when you hold it in your fingers. Tiffany cards, like O-Pee-Chee cards, feature a colorful card stock on the back that matches the front. Despite the fact that several companies were stepping up production at the time, the 1991 Topps Tiffany set remains one of the most difficult to come by throughout the set’s nine-year lifespan.

1992 Bowman Chipper Jones28

Chipper Jones’ Rookie Card from 1992 Bowman may not be his first card, but it is certainly a classic. For starters, the 1992 Bowman Baseball set is considered to be one of the best of the age. Not only was it a significant step forward for the brand from a manufacturing viewpoint, but it also has a robust checklist to support it. Nevertheless, we must not overlook what cannot be ignored. Another aspect of the 1992 Bowman class that stands out is the casual dress that many of the prospects are sporting.

The stance with the hands in the pockets is really the icing on the cake. Purchase a share of a stock in a corporation or a partnership in a corporation or a partnership in a corporation

1996 Pinnacle Christie Brinkley Collection Chipper Jones5

This card is more about enjoyment than it is about monetary worth. It’s a relaxed position, similar to the one used by Bowman in 1992. In fact, it goes far further than that. Whereas his second-year Bowman attempted to seem serious when it was released, the Chipper Jones from the 1996 Christie Brinkley Collection is all about having a good time. Christie Brinkley, an unexpected photographer and legendary model, is the inspiration for the insert set’s name. Her photographs of the Atlanta Braves and the Cleveland Indians from the 1995 World Series were used for the cards, and she often used unusual photographs such as this one.

1996 Select Certified Mirror Gold Chipper Jones7

By the time the mid-’90s rolled around, print runs were becoming increasingly limited in size. Select Certified took it to a whole new level with their Mirror Gold parallels in the year 1996. Each card in the set is limited to only 30 copies, with the vast majority of them swiftly disappearing into private collections. Those early Mirror Gold cards are now among the most sought-after and expensive cards from the era, and they command a high price. They don’t turn up very frequently, but when they do, a swarm of people rush in and send prices rising, even in the case of common goods.

1998 Donruss Crusade Red Chipper Jones53 /25

This card, like the exclusive Mirror Gold, derives a great deal of its mystery from the fact that it was printed in limited quantities. With only 25 copies available, it fills a significant need on many Chipper Jones collectors’ wish lists. However, it is not only about the number of copies printed. Donruss Crusade insert cards from 1998 are among the most popular of the era, owing in large part to the design of the cards. They’re both exquisite and daring at the same time. The color is vibrant, and the shiny background only serves to enhance the entire effect.

1998 Donruss Elite Back to the Future Autographs Eddie Mathews/Chipper Jones3

The fact that it is one of the first Chipper Jones autograph cards, as well as having a signature from Hall of Famer Eddie Mathews, makes it even more valuable. An excellent matchup, especially for Braves supporters. Although the serial number on the card may read 1500, that number refers to the whole print run of the card, signed and unsigned. Only the first 100 copies of the book were signed. Purchase a share of a stock in a corporation or a partnership in a corporation or a partnership in a corporation

1999 Topps Stadium Club Co-Signers Chipper Jones/Derek JeterCS4

With hindsight, several of the autograph combinations in the first run of Co-Signers appear to be questionable. However, there are others, like as this one, that have ink from two of the most well-known players of their respective generations. In addition, this is one of the most frequent cards in the deck, making it a good investment. So, while it’s difficult to come by these days, it’s not impossible. Also included in the insert set are a handful of other dual signatures by Jones that aren’t too shabby, though.

On one of them, he’s accompanied by Alex Rodriguez. Jones is a member of the other group, which also includes Scott Rolen. Purchase a share of a stock in a corporation or a partnership in a corporation or a partnership in a corporation

2017 Bowman 70th Anniversary Buyback Autographs Chipper Jones 1991 /20

When Chipper Jones initially began appearing on baseball cards, there were no rookie signatures to be seen on the cards. They most certainly are right now. Topps has a number of buyback card schemes, in which old cards that have been included in fresh packs are re-released. Typically, they feature some form of embellishment, such as a foil stamp. Bowman’s 2017 release included some extremely uncommon buyback signatures. In addition, there were 20 copies of the 1991 Chipper Jones Rookie Card in the collection.

However, it provides a more up-to-date version of one of his most important rookie cards.

Topps Originals is the name given to this line of trading cards.

Chipper Jones Rookie Cards Still Scorching After All These Years

You may see some of our previous player card postings here.) Before Chipper Jones ever stepped foot on a Major League baseball field, rookie cards of the former Atlanta Braves third baseman were highly sought-after collectibles. Part of this is due to the fact that Jones was selected #1 overall in the 1990 selection, right in the midst of the rookie card mania. Jones was the first overall choice in the 1990 draft. That combination engendered a slew of unrealistic expectations, both on the playing field and in the hobby.

All that is truly remarkable is that Jones more or less lived up to the hoopla surrounding his debut.

Consider Jones’ numerous World Series appearances with the Braves, his 1999 National League MVP award, and his 2018 induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

As a result. The following is a breakdown of each Chipper Jones rookie card as a tiny (micro?) commemoration of one of the best players of the Junk Wax Era. There are affiliate links to Amazon and eBay included in the price checks provided below.)

1991 Bowman Chipper Jones ( 569)

The restored Bowman line, which was reintroduced in 1989 in an enormous style by Topps, celebrated its third year on the market this year. When they shortened the card size to the regular dimensions (2-1/2′′ x 3-1/2′′) in 1990, they also increased the amount of rookie cards available to nearly ridiculous proportions. Of course, that tendency has only increased over the years, with Bowman being the go-to destination for rookies and pre-rookies alike to develop their skills. Topps made certain to capitalize on the still-thriving rookie frenzy in 1991 by not only stuffing its Bowman product with first-year automobiles, but also flooding the United States with enough stock to mop up the tears of “investors” when the bubble eventually broke, as it did in 1992.

1991 O-Pee-Chee Chipper Jones ( 333)

As a break from convention, in 1991, O-Pee-Chee released a collection of baseball cards that was not an identical replica of the Topps set that had been released the previous year. O-Pee-Chee Premier was a foray into the realm of premium cards, and it arrived with a lot of fanfare, as was customary for such releases. Despite the fact that OPC never truly took off as a super-duper brand, they didn’t fully lose their heritage when they went bankrupt in 1991. For collectors, this meant a Topps parallel set that could only be distinguished from a Topps set by the use of quality white cardboard and the presence of French translations on the backs of the cards.

As a result, this card may get $15-20 even in ungraded condition, with PSA 10s fetching more than $500 in mint condition.

1991 Score Chipper Jones ( 671)

We have a young Chipper Jones swinging away from the surface of the sun, and it’s a sight to behold! This card was a screamin’ hottie! To some extent, yes. It appeared to be — and continues to appear to be —extremely hot. However, as was the case with most baseball cards from 1991, Score produced enough of them to keep your family feeling Chipper for years to come. It is reasonable to expect to spend roughly a dollar for ungraded copies and up to $50 for GEM slabbed examples in good condition.

Prices may be found on eBay.

1991 ToppsChipper Jones ( 333)

This is a great rookie card that was molded by the elegant design that Topps released to commemorate their 40th anniversary, but it’s been so widely available that it’s had a difficult time gaining any value over the years.

Chipper Jones’ first base Topps card, despite the fact that there are a lot of them available, still feels like a good deal at about a dollar or two per card, ungraded. When it comes to graded GEM copies, the price might reach $100 or more. Prices may be found on Amazon. Prices may be found on eBay.

1991 Topps Desert Shield Chipper Jones ( 33)

When the United States entered what would become known as the (first) Gulf War in 1991, Topps created a parallel set of their base issue for distribution to US troops on the ground. The cards were similar to “regular” Topps cards from that year, with the exception that each was embossed with a foil stamp of the Operation Desert Shield logo. The print run was estimated to be between 6500 and 7o00 cards each card, which was a small number for the time period. Therefore, even ungraded versions of this Chipper Jones rookie card may command prices in the three-figure range.

Remember that counterfeits do exist; have a look at this article from Cardboard Connection for ideas on how to identify the counterfeits.

1991 Topps Micro Chipper Jones ( 333)

Topps has always enjoyed experimenting, and their lab work in 1991 resulted in the creation of a “micro” set, with each card measuring a tiny 1 inch by 1-3/8 inch. These cards were never very popular with collectors, and this, along with the fact that they are readily available at retail locations, means that entire sets are worth less than $10 on the secondary market. Chipper Jones, on the other hand, is responsible for the majority of that price, as his rookie card from the set sells for $3-10 in good ungraded condition.

Despite the fact that more than half of the micros submitted to PSA for review have been graded out at a GEM-MT 10, less than one-seventh of the Chippers make the cut at that level.

A pristine 1991 Topps Micro Chipper Jones card, if you can locate one, will cost you well into the three-figure range, assuming you can even find one.

Prices may be found on eBay.

1991 Topps Tiffany Chipper Jones ( 333)

If this card appears to be familiar to you, it’s likely that you’ve seen it before. It’s right there in the O-Pee-Chee directory. In addition, there’s a Desert Shield listing up there. And right over it, in the Micro listing. Yes, they are all the same design, with the same photo, and with the same Chipper. But, at the very least, the Tiffany card is glossy and printed on creamy white material, and it is somewhat restricted in quantity, at least when compared to most other 1991s. . and so on.

When you add it all up, you’re looking at close to $100 for a raw copy and five thousand or more for a GEM MT graded edition of the game.

Prices may be found on eBay.

1991 Upper Deck Chipper Jones ( 55)

By 1991, we were all aware that Upper Deck cards would be hefty, boast flaming white borders, sparkle with the greatest photography available in the business, and shine at us with their holograms, among other characteristics. Every single one of the cards was visually appealing, and the Chipper Jones rookie card was no exception. However, after three years of essentially the same (excellent) design, it all became a little. monotonous. In addition, there were a large number of UDs granted that year.

Alternatively, we may be content with the fact that such a lovely card is roughly similar in monetary value to a Keurig pod. Prices may be found on Amazon. Prices may be found on eBay. (For more information on the 2018 Hall of Fame class, please see our other postings here.)

Chipper Jones Rookie Card – Best Cards, Value, and Checklist

As one of the top players in baseball throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, as well as one of the best switch-hitters of all time, Chipper Jones has become synonymous with the Atlanta Braves and the city of Atlanta. Jones was an eight-time all-star who went on to win a slew of various awards throughout his career, including a World Series championship in 1995. Following his playing career, he was honored by the Atlanta Braves by having his number retired and by being inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Despite this, we’ve compiled a list of the greatest Chipper Jones rookie cards that are still valuable and will be of great interest to investors in the future.

Best Three Chipper Jones Rookie Cards

These three Chipper Jones rookie cards stand out from the rest of the set of Chipper Jones rookie cards. There are solutions available at a variety of pricing ranges to suit investors of all experience levels, from the newbie to the seasoned collector.

1991 Chipper Jones Topps Tiffany RC333

During the 1990s, Topps Tiffany was a high-end product supplied by the company that drew the attention of many investors owing to the higher-quality card paper and glossy appearance of the cards. It utilizes the same image as the standard Topps card (as well as the Topps Desert Shield card, which is listed lower down on this page), but it may be distinguished by the quality of the print when compared to the basic version. Related: The Most Expensive Baseball Cards From the 1970s and the Future of the Stock Market The photograph depicts a young Jones with a bat slung over his left shoulder, and the words Braves are inscribed in the bottom right corner of the photograph.

It has an entirely white border, but the image itself is enclosed in an eye-catching pattern of blue and red colors that is highly appealing to the eye.

1991 Chipper Jones Upper Deck RC55

In 1991, Upper Deck was a brand-new card manufacturer that had just made its way into the baseball card market for the first time. They made a big sensation when they introduced a higher-end product that would change the course of baseball card history forever. Jones is seen in this card wearing a red Braves uniform, ready to field any balls that are sent in his direction. Here’s everything you need to know: In this article, we will look at the top three Mariano Rivera rookie cards as well as their values and buyers’ guides.

Due to the fact that it lacks any distinguishing characteristics, this card has the lowest worth of the three described above, yet it still has a higher value than base cards manufactured by other firms.

1991 Chipper Jones Topps Desert Shield RC333

The most expensive card on our list, the 1991 Topps Desert Shield Chipper Jones RC, was only available in restricted quantities, which has resulted in the card being worth a significant amount of money today. On the upper-right side of the card, there is a huge silver foil strip that may be used to identify the card. During Operation Desert Storm, the Desert Shield cards were made in extremely restricted quantities and distributed to the troops. It was as a result of this that not only was there a restricted amount made, but there were also not many circulating on marketplaces.

The picture on this card is the same as the one on the Topps Tiffany card shown above.

Chipper Jones Rookie Card Value

Jones is regarded as a baseball icon and one of the best batters to have ever graced the field. Unfortunately, many of his cards do not have much value owing to the large amounts in which they were manufactured, but we have nevertheless uncovered three that are solid investment opportunities, which we have mentioned above as examples of strong investment alternatives. Popular: Mariano Rivera’s Rookie Cards Are the Best! The Topps Desert Shield card is the major find, with pristine condition examples fetching upwards of five figures.

Chipper Jones Investment Outlook

Jones is already a Hall of Famer and is unlikely to be forgotten about in the near future, thus his baseball cards are unlikely to lose a significant amount of their value overnight. On the other hand, there isn’t a great deal of upside potential for the prices to rise in the same way that a prospect’s would. Best Luka Doncic Rookie Cards is a popular search term. Jones’ cards, on the other hand, represent a solid and secure investment that cannot be found in the hands of many other players. Adding to the advantages is the fact that there are several Jones cards available at different pricing points, allowing investors of all experience levels to participate if they so want.
