BASEBALL ARTIST- DICK PEREZ SIGNED 8×10 ARTIST PORTRAIT PHOTO JACKIE ROBINSON

Jack Roosevent ‘Jackie’ Robinson was the first black African-American baseball player to compete in Major League Baseball in the modern era. He played for the New York Mets and was the first African-American to play in the Major Leagues. This, along with an excellent baseball career that lasted just nine years, has resulted in a strong demand for signed memorabilia, which, sadly for collectors, looks to be in short supply at the moment. For the majority of memorabilia collectors today, eBay is the most apparent location to start their internet search.

  1. The initial pricing for these balls is in the neighborhood of $3000 dollars.
  2. Buyers would have to comb through online auction sites in order to find one of these extremely uncommon objects, and once discovered, these little balls look to be the “gold dust” of the athletic memorabilia industry.
  3. Another sale, this one hosted by Imperial Sports Auctions, saw bidding end at more than $5,000, and the ball was accompanied by an authenticity letter from James Spence of the Junior Soccer Association.
  4. In 2010, the property was sold.
  5. First and foremost, Jackie did not sign a great deal of documents.
  6. The value of baseballs will only increase in the future as more and more of the increasingly scarce baseballs are scooped up by trophy hunters.
  7. It will no longer sell for less than $15,000 at this point.
  8. Since Major League Baseball retired his iconic number 42 jersey, the demand for his autographed balls has skyrocketed, and if you want one of those rare tiny signed balls, you’ll definitely have to give up your new Porsche to get your hands on one.

Jackie Robinson: Defining History and Autograph Collections

Dad was a member of the television production crew that created the Red Barber post-game TV show at Yankee Stadium in the late 1950s and early 1960s, when the Yankees were playing there. They also created the television advertising for Ballantine Beer, which was the official beer of the New York Yankees at the time. He has a number of artifacts that would be of interest to collectors in his collection. It is planned that the opening and closing shots of the Red Barber post-game TV show will be of a statue or caricature of Red.

  1. Other objects on the auction block include signed baseballs and photographs from the time period.
  2. A team from CTI examined your collection and shared it with Jonathan Scheier, a consignment director for Heritage, a top sports auction house in Dallas that valued it in the neighborhood of $1 million.
  3. Since announcer Mel Allen developed the term “It’s a Ballantine blast” to describe a Yankees home run during the team’s illustrious era in the 1950s and 1960s, the beer business has been synonymous with the franchise.
  4. According to the New York Yankees insignia on the scoreboard and the Los Angeles Dodgers outfits, the shot was taken during an Old Timer’s game in the old Yankee Stadium during your father’s time period.
  5. “Scans and photographs cannot be used to validate a signature,” Keurajian explains.
  6. According to Scheier, autographed photographs of Robinson may be purchased for $1,500 each.
  7. “Signed photographs are rare, and 8s10 photographs are even more so.

In addition to his accomplishments on the field, Jackie Robinson is the most significant player in baseball history because of the courage he embodied in crossing the color line, a narrative that was beautifully recounted in the film42 and will be included in a Ken Burns documentary that will premiere in 2015.

Eddie Lopat, Vic Raschi, and Allie Reynolds were the cornerstones of the Yankees’ illustrious starting pitching rotation.

The statue of Red Barber, who is considered to be one of the greatest baseball commentators of all time, is your prop, as you mentioned.

Southerner Red Barber coined phrases such as “They’re tearin’ up the pea patch” (used to describe a team that is on a winning streak) and “can of corn” (used to describe a sloppy, easily caught fly ball) that have become commonplace.

“Wow, that’s pretty great,” says Scheier.

According to the results of a cost-benefit analysis, it may be worthwhile to restore the knee and other components.

“Some stars would subcontract the chore of signing autographs to a secretary, spouse, or clubhouse attendants, as he writes in his book.” Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, and Joe Jackson are just a few of the players that have been accused of using ghost signers in the past.

Typically, secretarial signatures are not signed in such a way that they resemble the intended signature.

One limitation is the likely unavailability of a real Mantle autograph, and the autograph of Roger Maris, Mantle’s slugging partner, would have to be investigated in greater detail as well.

Scheier estimates that balls, even those with Mantle’s clubhouse autograph, may fetch $500 to $800 on the secondary market, particularly if they are in such excellent shape as yours are.

The official is valued anywhere from 10 percent to 20 percent more than the ordinary citizen.

I believe this is correct.

Photographs of Hall of Famers from the post-war era have a shockingly low monetary value, according to Scheier, who estimates that they are worth less than $50 each.

Press passes similar to the ones your father has amassed may be purchased for $15-$20, according to Scheier. Given their vivid representations of your father’s illustrious and peripatetic career, I feel that these items should be passed down to future generations as family treasures.
