How To Make A Baseball Cake

Baseball Cake – Baseball Cake Ideas

Instructions for Baking Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit for the temperature specified in the recipe. When you prepare the pan properly, your cake will come out of the mold smoothly and without sticking. The interior of the pan should be greased with a pastry brush and firm vegetable shortening (do not use butter, margarine or liquid vegetable oil). Spread the shortening evenly around the indentations to ensure that they are completely coated. Sprinkle about 2 Tablespoons flour into the pan and shake it about to ensure that the flour is evenly distributed around the pan.

If any glossy patches remain, add a little extra shortening and flour to prevent the cake from adhering together again.

Prepare one 2-layer cake mix according to the box directions or the recipe’s instructions.

Take care not to touch the sides or the bottom of the pan.

  • Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool for 10 minutes on a cake rack.
  • This permits the cake to sit more level and prevents it from breaking during baking.
  • Carefully remove the pan from the oven.
  • Using a pastry brush, remove any stray crumbs from the cake.
  • Remove the rack from the wall.
  • When flipping the cake, make careful to keep the cake, rack, and board as close together as possible to avoid cake shattering.

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius). Prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them. Prepare the pans by lining them with parchment paper and greasing the parchment paper. Combine the flour, baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a medium-sized mixing basin. Use an electric mixer on medium speed to cream 2 sticks butter and the granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, as well as a sprinkle of salt, are added. Pour in the egg whites one at a time, beating on low speed and scraping down the sides of the bowl as you go. For 1 minute, beat on high speed until the mixture is smooth. Add the flour mixture in three parts, alternating with one cup milk, while mixing at a moderate speed. Beat at a medium speed for about 30 seconds, or until the mixture is smooth. Pour the batter into the pans that have been prepared. Bake for approximately 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean. Allow for 10 minutes of cooling time before inverting the layers onto a cooling rack, discarding the paper, and allowing to cool fully. In the meantime, using an electric mixer on low speed, combine the remaining 2 sticks butter and the confectioners sugar. Gradually add the remaining 2 tablespoons milk and 2 teaspoons vanilla and beat on high speed for 5 minutes, or until the frosting is light and fluffy. Transfer 1/4 cup of the frosting to a small mixing dish and set aside. Fill in the gaps with enough food coloring to produce a vibrant crimson. 1 cake layer should be placed on a dish. Large dollop of simple frosting in the middle of each layer, spreading it to within 1/4 inch of the edge of each layer. Place the second layer on top of the first, then use the remaining basic frosting to frost the top and sides of the cake. Use a resealable plastic bag with one corner cut off to pipe red frosting onto the cake in the shape of baseball stitches
  • Repeat with the blue icing.

  • Step 1: Let the butter and eggs sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before using them. Meanwhile, gently coat the bottoms of two 8 8 2 inch square baking pans or two 9 1 1/2 inch round cake pans with nonstick spray or cooking spray. Prepare the pans by lining the bottoms with waxed paper and greasing and gently flouring them. Alternatively, gently butter and flour one 1392-inch baking pan or one 10-inch fluted tube pan. Remove the pan(s) from the heat. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt until well combined
  • Set aside. Advertisement
  • Step 2: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large mixing bowl, using an electric mixer on medium to high speed, cream together the butter and sugar for 30 seconds. Continue beating on medium speed while gradually adding sugar, 1/4 cup at a time, until everything is well incorporated. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and continue to beat for another 2 minutes. Toss in the eggs one at a time, thoroughly mixing after each addition. Add in the vanilla extract. Pour in the flour mixture and milk alternately into the butter mixture, mixing only until incorporated after each addition on low speed. Continue to beat at a medium to high tempo for another 20 seconds. Pour the batter into the pan(s) that have been prepared, spreading evenly
  • 3. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes for 8-inch pans or 13-inch pan, 30 to 35 minutes for 9-inch pans, 45 to 50 minutes for 10-inch tube pan, or until a wooden toothpick inserted near the center(s) comes out clean, depending on the size of the pans used. Cool the cake layers or tube cake in the pan(s) on a wire rack(s) for 10 minutes before removing them. Remove the cake layers or tube cake from the pan(s) and peel away any waxed paper that may have been used. Place a wire rack over a baking sheet and let cool fully (s). Alternatively, set the 13-inch cake in the pan on a wire rack and allow it to cool fully. Using the appropriate icing, decorate the cake.

Baseball Cake Recipe

Making a baseball cake for your favorite baseball fan is a great idea throughout the spring and summer months. This cake is likely to be a hit whether you’re celebrating a birthday or a triumph.

  • 1 box white cake mix (twice the recipe if you’re preparing 2 cakes)
  • Licorice in the shape of red shoestrings
  • Chocolate icing or molten chocolate for calligraphy
  • FROSTING WITH BUTTERCREAM:
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon meringue powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon light Karo syrup

8-inch round cake pans are the container for this recipe.

  • The cake should be baked in accordance with the directions on the packaging. It is not a cause for worry if the cakes have a domed top. This will just give the cakes a more rounded look
  • Nonetheless,

FROSTING TECHNIQUES: (Double if making two cakes)

  • On a low speed, cream the shortening and butter together until they are thoroughly combined. then in another bowl, mix the powdered sugar, meringue powder, and salt
  • Then repeat the process with the other ingredients
  • Combine the shortening and butter with the vanilla and milk, mixing until well combined. Start adding the sugar mixture in little amounts, about 1 cup at a time, mixing just until it is fully integrated after each addition. While mixing, scrape down the edges of the basin. Keep the mixture from becoming too thick
  • Save the Karo syrup for adding to thin the consistency if required. You want the frosting to have a smooth consistency that will be easy to spread. If the frosting is too thick, it will prevent you from getting a good smooth surface, but if it is too thin, it will not stand up to the decorating process. This recipe will produce enough frosting to cover one 2-layer baseball-shaped cake. If you require two servings, double the recipe.

DECORATING:

  • Place the bottom layer of the cake on the cake board or plate that you intend to use to display the final cake after it has been assembled. Wrap a piece of wax paper around the bottom of the container to preserve the surface while decorating
  • Frost the top of the bottom layer, and then place the top layer on top of it, with the domed side facing up, as shown. The leftover frosting should be used to ice the edges and top of the cake. Before you begin to embellish, smooth up the top and sides as much as you possibly can. Shoe-string licorice should be cut into pieces that are roughly 3/4 inch length to begin. Placing them in a “V” arrangement on top of the cake and extending them down the sides in the shape of baseball lacing will give the cake an authentic baseball look. Following the completion of the lacing on either side, you can decorate the cake with chocolate frosting or melted chocolate in whatever manner you choose. To use a pastry bag in the absence of one, pour the chocolate frosting or melted chocolate in a sealable bag and clip one of the corners so that you can squeeze the chocolate or frosting out to perform the writing. When you are through decorating the cake, carefully lift the wax paper from underneath the cake and discard it. When taking it out, carefully slide it back and forth as you draw it out for optimal results.

Note: If you’re using melted chocolate for the letters, you may do it on a piece of wax paper first and then transfer it on the cake when it has solidified. Using caution, carefully peel the letters off the paper and arrange it where you wish on the cake when it has dried. Baseball cake tutorial

Baseball cake tutorial that is both simple and gorgeous! My baby boy turned one recently, and to celebrate, we threw him a birthday party with a baseball theme for him. I decided to make him a birthday cake, which, as you may recall, has had a negative impact on my reputation in the past. However, I chose a straightforward design and documented my progress with photographs so that you could see how I accomplished it. You can do it if I can do it, so can you! Simply follow the instructions in this baseball cake guide!

Cake Supplies Needed:

  • Hot water, Betty Crocker Red Velvet Cake Mix, Betty Crocker Fluffy White Whipped Frosting, Wilton Red Sparkle Gel, round plastic lid (I used the cover from my Pampered Chef Batter Bowl), off set spatula, Betty Crocker Red Velvet Cake Mix

Step 1: Mix the Cake

Empty the box of cake mix into a mixing basin, but instead of adding the ingredients listed on the container, add four eggs, one-third cup melted butter, and one-cup milk. Mix until well combined. This will make your baseball cake taste more handmade and will give it a denser structure, which will be useful for stacking the two layers together in a baseball shape.

Step 2: Bake the Cakes

Pour the batter into two 8-inch baking pans that have been oiled and dusted and bake according to the package directions. Allow to cool fully on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

Step 3: Prepare for Stacking

Each layer should have its rounded dome removed with a serrated bread knife to make a lovely flat surface on each cake.

Step 4: Stacking the Cakes

Spread a beautiful uniform coating of frosting on one of the cakes and then turn the second cake, cut side down, on top of the frosting layer to finish.

Step 5: The Crumb Coat

Because we are icing a red cake with white frosting, it is necessary to coat the cake with a crumb coating. Begin by piping frosting all over the cake and spreading it very thinly all over the cake with an off-set spatula to create a smooth finish. I begin in the middle of the cake and work my way outward, finishing by covering the sides. Place the cake in the freezer for 15–30 minutes to enable the icing to firm up a bit.

Step 6: Frosting the Baseball Cake

Using a substantial amount of frosting, cover the entire cake (I used nearly an entire jar on this step). Working your way out and around the edges of the cake, make the frosting as smooth as possible by starting in the center and working your way out and around the sides. Nobody enjoys a dessert that has too little icing on it!

Step 7: Smoothing the Frosting

When smoothing the frosting, a Viva paper towel is sometimes used; however, I didn’t have any on hand, so I used my fingers instead. I merely filled a large pot with really hot water and dropped my offset spatula in it.

I would use it to smooth the frosting throughout the surface, applying only a small amount of pressure on the icing. Every few seconds, I dipped it into the water to clean it. This helped to keep the spatula hot while also adding just enough water to get a truly smooth surface.

Step 8: Marking the Baseball Laces

I used the lid of my Pampered Chef Batter Bowl to create the appearance of baseball laces, but you could use any circular, thin lid or bowl to achieve the same effect. To use as a guide for my piping, I gently pushed it into the icing (I think it would have been better to freeze it for a few minutes before doing this).

Step 9: Piping the Laces

In order to create a solid line, I used thered sparkling food gel, followed by the V laces. Just take it easy. My kid was waking up from his nap at the exact moment I was performing this step, and some of them suffered the price as a result of it. I also considered using the red pull-n-peel licorice for this purpose, but decided against it. However, considering my previous failures at making birthday cakes, I still believe it turned out fantastic. So don’t be intimidated by the prospect of hosting your next baseball party; instead, bake this ridiculously simple baseball cake!

Ingredients

  • Cake mix (follow the package directions for the cake mix you’re using)
  • Ingredients: 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup of vegetable oil, 3 big eggs, white icing, red food coloring
  1. 1 assemble all of the supplies and tools that will be required
  2. 2 Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. While you’re at it, coat the bottom and sides of a circular pan with butter, cooking spray, or vegetable oil to ensure that the cake doesn’t cling to the pan when it’s time to serve the dessert. Advertisement
  3. 3Spread a thin coating of flour over the sections of the pan that have been greased. You can remove any extra flour from the mixture
  4. 4 In a large mixing bowl, combine all of the cake ingredients. Pour the cake mix into a large mixing basin and stir in 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup of vegetable oil, and 3 big eggs until well combined. Mix the ingredients using a mixer set on medium speed, or vigorously by hand if you have the time. Do either one for no more than 2 minutes
  5. 5 minutes total. Pour the batter onto the pan that has been prepared and bake it in the oven for 30 minutes. Bake for 24-29 minutes, depending on your oven. When a toothpick is placed into the cake and comes out clean, this means that there is no batter on the toothpick, the cake is done. When the cake has finished baking, remove it from the oven. Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool for at least 10 minutes. Advertisement
  1. 1Use tongs to carefully lift the cake out of the pan and lay it on a cake board. The top of the cake is where it rose up, resulting in an uneven layer. The bump may be removed if you desired a 3-D baseball. Otherwise, cut away the hump that was generated to make a lovely, uniform layer
  2. You should now have a round, flat cake
  3. 2Take a tiny quantity of frosting and spread it on the top and edges of the cake in a very thin, even layer. This will make it easier to decorate the cake in the future. 3. Refrigerate the cake for around a half-hour to allow it to chill
  4. While the cake is cooling, divide the frosting into two dishes and set aside. Place approximately 3/4 of the frosting in a separate bowl and leave it as white as possible. Place the remaining 1/4 in a separate bowl. This is the frosting that will be colored red
  5. 4Take the food coloring and mix it into the smaller amount of frosting, roughly 4 drops at a time. 5Remove the cake from the refrigerator and spread the white frosting all over the cake, being sure to cover all of the cake with the icing. Spread the frosting evenly over the top and edges of the cake, making sure to level up the icing as you go. Place the cake in the refrigerator to chill when it has been completed
  6. 6ask for a piping bag fitted with a tiny round tip. If you like, you may alternatively cut a small hole in the very bottom of the bag to accommodate the hole. Place the red frosting into the piping bag
  7. 7Take the cake out of the oven and begin to draw two curving lines (vertically) on opposing sides of the cake with a toothpick. To the right of the two curves, draw tiny horizontal lines (almost like dashes) that cross each other and run over the two curved lines. Once the lines have been created, use the red frosting in a piping bag to trace over them
  8. 8 Place it back into the refrigerator to chill for 10 minutes before removing it from the refrigerator. The cake should be finished and ready to be served right now! Advertisement

  • In order to determine how long your cake will take to bake, measure how many inches your circular pan measures. If you start putting the frosting on while the cake is still warm, the hot cake will melt the icing, resulting in a ruined cake. To ensure that the cake is completely cool, you’ll want to leave it out overnight. Repeat the process of placing the cake in the refrigerator to chill the frosting, since cold frosting is simpler to work with
  • Instead of piping bags, you may use sandwich bags and cut a small hole in one of the corners to create a piping bag out of them. Add more embellishments around the sides and on top of the cake if you like to make it more elaborate.

Makes

8-10 servings per recipe If you want to make this sports dish, you won’t need any special cookware. The pieces with the red licorice “lacing” are constantly in high demand among the children. I’ve discovered that the best method for making the laces on the curved ball cake is to use fresh, flexible licorice that is still soft. Sue Gronholz, of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, sent the following response: Recipe for Play Ball Cake, courtesy of Taste of Home.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups sugar, 2 big eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 1/2 cups cake flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1 cup milk FROSTING:
  • 3 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 4 tablespoons milk, divided
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 3 cups confectioners’ sugar Shoestring red licorice, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, dash salt, 1/4 cup baking cocoa, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/4 teaspoon almond extract

Directions

  1. Lightly beat the shortening and sugar together in a large mixing bowl until they are light and creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add in the vanilla extract. Combine the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl
  2. Alternately add the flour combination and milk to the creamed mixture, beating thoroughly after each addition. 1 1/2 cups batter should be poured into a greased and dusted 3-cup ovenproof mixing basin
  3. Pour the remaining batter into a 9-inch circular baking pan that has been oiled and dusted. Preheat the oven to 325°F and bake the cakes for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Allow for 10 minutes of cooling time before transferring to wire racks to cool fully. To make the frosting, cream together the shortening, butter, and confectioners’ sugar in a large mixing bowl until creamy. Mix in 3 tablespoons milk, the extracts, and the salt until the mixture is smooth. 1 cup of the frosting should be set aside
  4. The remaining frosting should be mixed with the cocoa and remaining milk. Cut a 3×1-in. oval off the edge of the 9-in. cake to use as the thumb opening for the cake. Place the cake on a covered board that is 11 inches in diameter. Decorate with chocolate icing
  5. Using four pieces of licorice, make two crosses over the thumb opening to serve as laces for the mitt. White icing is used to decorate the circular cake. Form the laces of the ball out of licorice bits. Place on the mitt cake in the opposite direction of the thumb opening

Baseball Birthday Cake

Another birthday has come and gone, and this was by far the simplest cake I’ve ever created with my children. If you’ve read this post, you’ll know that we always create our own birthday cakes for the kids when their birthdays come around. (In fact, my birthday is coming up, and I’m hoping to get a slice of cheesecake from Copeland’s.) Birthdays for my children seem to be approaching at an ever-increasing rate recently. It’s probably because I’m at such a good place in my motherhood that I don’t want it to come to an end, and as a result, time is passing by at an alarming rate.

  • This specific birthday cake request came from one of my sons, who is a baseball fan and wanted something to match his sports interests.
  • I was relieved to hear that it would be much simpler than some of their previous birthday cake requests.
  • Is it possible to roast a Pyrex bowl in the oven?
  • I was a little worried about putting it in the oven, but I decided to give it a shot anyway.
  • Wow, that’s fantastic!
  • This cake was quite simple to make, and I have a strong suspicion that I will repeat the process shortly, but this time for an orange basketball cake for one of the children.

Take out the Kleenex for this mother-in-law. This cake was made from a box cake that had been “doctored” and topped with white chocolate cream cheese frosting. YUM. The frosting on top of the cake was a huge hit. As a result, I’m going to share the recipe with you.

How to make a Baseball Cake

  1. Cake should be baked in a glass oven-safe pyrex bowl (or any other oven-safe dish that you may have on hand)
  2. Place on a white cardboard circle (you can get them in the cake aisle of Wal*Mart) and let cool for 10 minutes before inverting. Allow for 3o minutes of cooling time. When moving and transferring your cake, it is critical that it be allowed to cool completely before moving and transferring it. (This is something I’ve learned from my many botched cake attempts.) Make A Pull Apart Baseball Cupcake Cake – Fun Baseball Cupcake Ideas

If you’re having a baseball party, this fun take apart baseball cupcake cake is a terrific way to serve cupcakes! This cupcake baseball cake is really simple to prepare and is one of my favorite tear apart cupcake ideas to share with friends.

Baseball cupcake ideas – it’s a cupcake cake!

CUPCAKES, not a cake, are what I’m talking about. My kid recently had his tenth birthday (OMG), and he requested that the party be themed around baseball. I had the decorations all planned out, but I needed to find a cake to go with them! I believe in making the majority of my party decorations and supplies from scratch, so I created a fun baseball tear apart cupcake cake for the occasion.

You’ll love these baseball cupcakes

This is one of my new favorite baseball cupcake ideas, and it’s really simple to put together on your own time. These may be purchased at grocery shops and bakeries for $40-$50 and are only accessible during certain seasons. Baseball cupcake cakes and unicorn cupcake cakes have both been seen by me, but never baseballs! You can easily make this baseball cupcake cake at home for a fraction of the cost of a professional bakery. This amazing pull-apart cupcake cake is simple to make: just gather your ingredients (cupcake mix, frosting, and decorative icing) and get to work.

How To Make a Baseball Pull Apart Cupcake Cake

The following materials are required:

  • Twenty or twenty-four plain cupcakes
  • Two (16 oz) cans white frosting
  • Red decorative cake or cookie icing
  • One large circular dish

Step 1: Start making your baseball cupcakes

To get started on your baseball cupcakes cake, bake the cupcakes according to the package directions and allow them to cool completely before assembling them. To make things easier, I always buy a pre-made box mix; preparing a party is hard! Using a circular dish, arrange the cupcakes side by side in a circle configuration, making sure that the sides of each cupcake are touching each other.

Step 2: Add frosting to your baseball cupcakes

Next, beat the frosting in the container to loosen it up a little so that it can be put onto the cupcakes a little more easily. Using a spatula, spread the frosting uniformly around the cupcake cake to create the appearance of a single round circle. Please make certain that you get it into all of the cracks! Refrigerate the cupcake baseball cake for 10 minutes to allow the frosting to harden.

Step 3: Add the red baseball threads

You will now apply the red baseball stitching to the cake along with the ornamental cake icing tube (we used acookie icingtube because of the narrow tip size). Prepare the cake by carefully drawing two long curved lines on either side of it, and then stitching the lines together on each side. Refrigerate for a few hours to allow the frosting to set, then remove a few hours before serving.

That’s it – you’ve got a baseball cupcake cake!
