10. 1975 Topps Reggie Jackson300

This Jackson card, like the rest of the Topps series from 1975, is available in both standard and micro sizes. Along with those two cards, completists may also add an action card from Game 1 of the 1974 World Series and a card commemorating Jackson’s MVP award from the 1973 World Series.

9. 1974 Topps Reggie Jackson130

As a tribute to Jackson’s widespread popularity, he appears on six distinct Topps baseball cards from the year 1974. As the Oakland A’s won their third consecutive World Series championship in 1974, this breaks down to one base card, two leaders cards, one All-Star card, and two World Series cards.

8. 1978 Topps Reggie Jackson200

Aside from the two prominent rookie cards included in the collection, the Reggie Jackson base card is arguably the most well-known card from the 1978 Topps series, which was released in 1978. The card, which depicts a massive Jackson swing, was created at the height of Jackson’s hitting abilities. The red, white, and blue All-Star medallion on the front of the card is also a lovely touch to the overall design.

7. 1972 Topps Reggie Jackson436

In Reggie’s 1972 ToppsIn Action card, it’s easy to image him standing on the sidelines, watching a soaring foul ball sail out of play. The opposite side of the In Action cards has a newspaper cover page from 1971 depicting an important event that occurred during that year. Jackson’s card features a narrative about Hank Aaron hitting his 600th home run on the back, which is appropriate in this circumstance.

6. 1971 Topps Reggie Jackson20

Reggie Jackson’s signature on the 1971 Topps card is quite different from the one he would establish on his other cards in the following decade (see3 and4 on this list). Check out the massive “M” on the card, which spans over half of the card while still signing as “Reginald.”

5. 1973 Topps Reggie Jackson255

The Reggie Jackson card from 1973 Topps may be one of the most known of his many famous baseball cards, despite the fact that he has many more. Casual admirers, on the other hand, could not recognize the topic at first look because of the frown on his face and the absence of his iconic mustache.

4. 1977 Topps Reggie Jackson10

1977 is the year on which Jackson’s first baseball card with the New York Yankees may be found. Toppsand enthusiasts have a wide range of options when it comes to the versions they may collect. To commemorate the occasion, Topps published a cloth sticker version of the 1977 Topps base card for 55 players, including Reggie Jackson, and Burger King issued a Jackson card with a different photo but utilizing the same basic Topps design as the Jackson card.

3. 1990 Upper Deck Baseball Heroes Reggie Jackson Autograph

With this outstanding signed card, Upper Deck’s Baseball Heroes insert set featuring Reggie in 1990 Upper Deck was elevated to a new level of achievement. In spite of the fact that 2,500 copies have been signed, the autographed card is surprisingly unusual and may prompt collectors to open one of the most widely produced card sets in history to look for one.

2. 1970 Topps Reggie Jackson140

Along with this basic card in the1970 Toppsset, Reggie also gets an All-Star card and two American League leader cards, including a home run leaders card he shares withHarmon Killebrewand Frank Howard.

This second-year card is also a far more budget-friendly card than his rookie (and1 on the list) (and1 on the list).

1. 1969 Topps Reggie Jackson RC260

Although he started his MLB career when the A’s were still playing in Kansas City in 1967, the first Topps card for Reggie Jackson arrived after the team’s transfer to Oakland and has proven to be the essential rookie in the1969 Toppsset. With the exception of highly-graded copies ofMickey Mantle ‘s base card, it is also the most valuable card from the series.

1969 Topps Reggie Jackson Rookie Card: The Ultimate Collector’s Guide

The 1969 Topps Reggie Jackson rookie card is one of the all-time outstanding vintage cards of the 1960’s. The manner that Topps depicted the young Jackson with the beautiful blue sky in the backdrop gives this card outstanding visual appeal. Jackson seems so serene you’d have no clue that he’d go down as one of the game’s most feared power hitters of all-time. And since his rookie card is the final outstanding rookie card of the 1960’s, it’s always been a personal favorite of mine. In this tutorial we’ll explore all you need to know about acquiring Reggie Jackson rookie cards.

Key Facts

Distinction:Jackson broke into the Major Leagues in 1967 yet this is Reggie Jackson’s only acknowledged mainstream rookie card since Topps didn’t publish a Jackson card until 1969. Additionally, there are some additional Reggie Jackson cards issued in 1969 but this is the one that collectors seek for more often than not. Number:This is card260 in a set of 664 cards. Design:The 1969 Toppsdesign featured player photos that dominated the fronts of the cards. A young kid is pictured in his Oakland Athletics jersey staring off into the distant.

  1. Jackson’s name and position are enclosed in the upper right corner.
  2. Reverse Side:The reverse side of the card is printed horizontally and displays his personal information and a brief summary of stats.
  3. Topps also added a wonderful cartoon in the upper right corner with a nice stat from his tenure in the Minors with Birmingham in 1967.
  4. These are both issues that occur often with cards throughout the set.

Reggie Jackson Rookie Card Value

The first thing people generally question is: how much is a Reggie Jackson rookie card worth? It’s actually one of the most costly cards of the 1960’s. And other than the white letter variant Mickey Mantle, it’s the most expensive card in the 1969 Topps series. If you locate one rated by Professional Sports Authenticators (PSA) in PSA 9 Mint condition then you’re looking at afive figure price tag.

PSA is widely regarded as the gold standard in the vintage card market, and as a result, collectors place high value on their graded cards. According to the PSA SMR current market values are: PSA 9 MINT: $20,000PSA 8 NM-MT: $1,650PSA 7 NM: $400

Reggie Jackson’s Legacy

Reggie Jackson will go down in history as one of the greatest power hitters in the history of the game. The man has the ability to absolutely slam the ball. And he was one of the finest clutch hitters in the postseason as well, which is how he came to be known as “Mr. October” after the month of October. His list of accomplishments is lengthy and impressive:

  • Fourteen All-Star appearances, including the American League MVP in 1973
  • Two World Series MVPs
  • Five World Series championships
  • Two Silver Slugger awards
  • 563 career home runs
  • Two Silver Slugger medals
  • In 1993, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Jackson was an incredible talent who will be remembered for his power and clutch hitting for the rest of his life. So it’s no surprise that Reggie Jackson rookie cards continue to be among the most highly sought-after rookie cards in the vintage baseball card industry today. And, without a doubt, one of the most desirable rookie cards to collect from the 1960s.

Career Chronicling Reggie Jackson Baseball Cards, Hottest Auctions

When he was a member of the New York Yankees, Reggie Jackson wore the number 44. And on October 18, 1977 — 44 years ago today — the Hall of Fame slugger was dubbed “Mr. October” by the media. A home run by Jackson in his final at-bat in Game 5 of the 1977 World Series, a shot that clanged off the right-field foul pole at Dodger Stadium, sealed his fate. The Yankees were defeated 10-4 by the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the World Series was re-located to New York with the Yankees still holding a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series.

With three home runs — all on the first pitch and off three separate pitchers — Reggie smashed three home runs as the Yankees prevailed 8-4 to win their first World Series championship since 1962.

Former Los Angeles Times journalist Jim Murray characterized the home run as a “booming Jack Nicklaus-type tee shot, high and long — the kind that pitchers wake up screaming in the middle of the night over.” If you include the home shot from Game 5, Reggie hit four home runs in four consecutive swings.

  1. The 1970s are perhaps best represented by Jackson, while other collectors may argue that Nolan Ryan is the best actor of the era (pun intended).
  2. As a self-proclaimed collector, it was a fact he was certain to appreciate.
  3. To commemorate Jackson’s number nine during his time with the Athletics, the team that he began and concluded his big league career with, we’ll use the number nine.
  4. Topps No.
  5. It’s only natural that Jackson’s debut Topps card would be at the top of this list.
  6. He hit a career-high 47 home runs in 1969, and he was named to the All-Star team in 1970.
  7. In addition to the Mickey Mantle base card, which is the final Topps regular-season product featuring the Yankees’ great, Reggie’s rookie card is one of the most sought-after cards in the collection, second only to the Mickey Mantle base card.

The Mint 9 rating is given to just one gem mint card and 41 cards that are graded Mint 9.

Topps card number 140 from 1970.

This card, which was shot in Yankee Stadium at the time (because Topps photographed practically every player that passed through New York at the time), depicts a young, determined Reggie squaring up with his eyes on the baseball.

Especially when one considers that Jackson led the league in strikeouts from 1968 through 1971, with totals of 171, 142, 135 and 161 during that span.

Topps No.

This card depicts Jackson performing the iconic follow-through swing that would later become his signature move.

Sure, there are other important cards in the 1978 collection, including rookie cards of Eddie Murray, Paul Molitor, and Nolan Ryan, but the Reggie card captures Mr.

You can still get your hands on a quality one for a reasonable price.

20 from 1971.

The “M” in Reggie’s middle name is spoken with a lot of flourish, and he prefers to sign his autographs with his entire first name, “Reginald,” rather of the more common “Reggie.” Even on its alone, this card should be a fan favorite.

The edges of the 1971 Topps set chip readily, making it a difficult set to maintain in good condition.

If you’re okay with something a little more pedestrian, there are plenty of options that aren’t too pricey.

32 cereal was introduced in 1970.

This might be due to the fact that the 3-D Kellogg’s cards are somewhat narrower than the Topps counterpart.

Kellogg’s included cards with the boxes of cereal, but there was also a mail-in option for those who wanted entire sets.

Although just 838 Jackson cards were submitted to PSA, 77 are gem mint and more than half (468) get a PSA 9 rating, which is the highest possible.

Topps card number 130 from 1974.

Jackson is seen in motion on the 1974 Topps card, as he follows through on a swing.

Additionally, Reggie is featured on an All-Star right fielders card with Billy Williams, two league leaders cards (home runs and RBI), and two postseason cards are included in the set, in addition to the base card (the AL playoffs card and Game 6 of the World Series).

The basic card is simple to come by and, with the exception of high-grade copies, is still rather inexpensive.

10 from 1977.

Although Jackson’s portrait appears in the 1977 collection for the first time as a Yankee, there is nothing particularly noteworthy about it.

Nice, ungraded copies are still available for less than $25.

The fact that this Reggie Jackson card did not appear in the 1977 Topps series is what makes it so remarkable.

Reggie played for the Baltimore Orioles in 1976 and had a solid season, hitting 27 home runs and driving in 91 runs.

Topps discovered the Jackson proof in May 2004, when the firm released its vault of archive material to the public for the first time.

255 from 1973.

The Topps set from 1973 was a departure from the norm.

It almost appears as if Reggie is attempting a shot put during a track meet with poor form.

PSA 9 is the highest grade available, and there are only 99 available at that level.

Autographed Upper Deck Baseball Heroes from 1990 This card, which was produced as part of a set that was instrumental in establishing the “autographs in packs” concept that has since become a fixture of the hobby, features 2,500 autographed copies and was part of Upper Deck’s first “Heroes” insert line.

These days, they are often sold for several hundred dollars or even more. Here’s a look at the 44 Reggie Jackson baseball cards that are now being viewed the most on eBay:
