  1. A) Create trading cards for your own Trading Card Game (TCG). Trading card games such as Magic the Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh! are popular, but it might be even more enjoyable to design your own game from the ground up. You may create your own characters, give them abilities, and establish your own rules for them to follow. Making your own Trading Card Game is a fantastic method to express yourself creatively while also providing you and your friends with a unique and exciting game to play
  • A trading card will normally have a unique character name and will feature specifics about the character’s abilities, talents, and strengths as well as any other information you’d want to put about them.
  • 2 Design your own set of baseball cards. Trading baseball cards has been a popular activity for many years, but what can you do if you don’t have access to baseball trading cards at your disposal? Whether you can’t purchase baseball cards or can’t locate them in your area, creating your own baseball cards is a fun and very simple alternative that anybody can participate in. • Baseball cards normally contain the player’s name, statistics, team history (including where they attended college and high school), and a few interesting facts about the player.
  • s3 Make unique trade cards by using images of family and friends as inspiration. Making personalized trading cards with friends or family members is a fun way to stay connected with the people you care about, and they make wonderful holiday gifts as well. Print out your best family photographs (you can even add pets if you like) or utilize yearbook images of a group of school mates to create a collage.
  • You may write any information you like on these cards, but it’s normally best to include the person’s name, occupation or major, perhaps their favorite cuisine and color, as well as a few of interesting facts about them. You should enjoy yourself with this card since it is the most personal of all trade cards.
  1. 1st, gather all of your supplies. Paper, a pencil, markers, and scissors are all you’ll need to create your own trading cards for your collection. In the event that you wish to utilize other materials as your artwork, such as stickers or photographs, you can do so.
  • Select a piece of paper that has a thick substance. All of the following are solid options: index cards, construction paper, and thick card stock paper. To ensure that your playing cards survive longer and seem more professional, you should choose cards that are both durable and thick. Make use of brilliant colored markers to give your trade cards a lively appearance.
  • 2 Make your cards by cutting them out. Standard trade cards are around 2.75 inches wide and 3.5 inches tall, although you are not required to design your cards that size. Whatever size you want your trading cards to be, make sure you cut the paper so that all of the cards are as evenly spaced as you can.
  • Draw guide lines on your paper with a ruler to help you stay on track. This will make cutting your cards a lot less difficult. Trace the outline of a trade card you already own (a Pokemon card, a baseball card, etc.) numerous times on your paper until you’ve covered the entire sheet with outlines, then carefully cut each card out. This will assist to ensure that your cards are all of the same size. Using little index cards as trade cards is an excellent choice since it eliminates the need to cut any cards. Despite the fact that index cards are somewhat larger than traditional trading cards, opting for this alternative will save you time and ensure that you have a set of cards that are totally even.
  • 3 Finally, upload your artwork. Whether you’re creating a trading card game, baseball cards, or personalized trading cards, the artwork you choose will vary.
  • If you’re creating a Trading Card Game, each trading card should feature a different character. Draw each figure in pencil first so that you have the opportunity to correct any mistakes that may occur. Once you’re pleased with your sketch, trace and color in the details of your character with a marker to give it a polished, vibrant appearance. If you are uneasy with sketching, you may use stickers to represent the visuals of your characters instead of drawing. Pick out a few stickers that you like and just paste them in the middle of your trading cards, where the artwork would normally be
  • In order to create baseball cards, it’s important to print out images of the players that will be included on the cards before starting. Then adhere them on the card with tape or glue. Create photographs of your friends and family to tape or glue to your trading cards if you’re producing personalized trading cards. If you’re constructing custom trading cards, you may print out pictures of your friends and family to use as templates. Use wallet-sized class images if you’re producing the cards for a group of buddies at school
  • Otherwise, use regular-sized photos. Make sure to leave enough space on the top and bottom of your card to provide further information about your person or character.
  • 4 Fill in the blanks on your trade cards with specifics. Each individual / character should have a unique name as well as specific information about themselves. It is totally up to you what information you want to put in your resume.
  • Fill in the blanks at the top of each card with the name of your character / person in legible handwriting. To make the name stand out more, make it bold with a permanent marker. Details about the character / person should be included beneath the image. The abilities, skill level, and other characteristics of the character would be listed here, as would the baseball player’s stats and background, as well as the person’s favorite cuisine and color. Make use of a tiny marker or a very dark pen to make it easier to read the little details
  1. 5Complete your deck of cards. This step is optional, but if you want to ensure that your cards are protected and endure for a longer period of time, try laminating them. A laminating machine or taking your cards to a specialised business to be laminated are also options for accomplishing this. Advertisement
  1. 1 Make use of a computer that is equipped with a word processor or editing software. 2 The following programs will work: Microsoft Word, Pages, Photoshop, or any other application that allows you to design shapes, input photos, and create text boxes. In contrast to Photoshop, which is a more complex program, word processors such as Microsoft Word and Pages are relatively user friendly and straightforward to use. You can choose the application you are most familiar with
  • In addition, your computer should have access to a printer. For those without access to a printer, you may have your trading cards made at any retailer that offers printing services, such as FedEx Office.
  • 2 Design the artwork for your business cards. According on the sort of trading cards you’re creating, the style of artwork you employ will differ. Create a folder on your computer to save all of your photographs in for safekeeping. In this folder, you may store your artwork or images so that you can put them to one side while you work on your card template
  • If you want to make a trading card game that is one-of-a-kind, drawing your own artwork is a terrific alternative. It is best to sketch your characters in pencil first, and then color them in with a marker to give them a more polished appearance. You will either scan your graphics onto your computer using a scanning printer or snap a photo of each character and upload the photos to your computer when you have completed your drawings. In the event that you decide to snap photographs, make sure that the lighting is good and there are no shadows. Making a personalized trading card game by using images of your friends, family, or even pets as your characters is a fun and easy way to create a unique trading card game. It’s as simple as transferring images of each person who you wish to play a part to your computer. Download images of your favorite baseball players to your computer so that you may create your own baseball cards from them. Crop your pictures or artwork into square-shaped images with a cropping tool. This will make it much easy to include them into your templates.
  • 3 Create a template for your business cards. Create a new document or project in your preferred computer program by clicking on the “New Document” button. We will imagine that we are using Pages because it is a straightforward piece of software. Using Microsoft Word will be quite identical, with the exception of the fact that the buttons and actions may be called differently.
  • To insert a rectangle into your document, select “Insert Shape” from the Insert menu. Drag the dimensions of your rectangle until it is the same size as the trade card you want to create. The size measurements will show as you move your rectangle across the screen. Trading cards are typically 2.5 inches broad and 3.5 inches tall
  • However, some are somewhat smaller. In order to get an idea of the size of your rectangle, you may hold a trade card or playing card up to your computer screen and adjust the rectangle’s measurements until it is the same size as the card. If you want to utilize this approach, make certain that your document is zoomed in to 150 percent for accuracy. Make a strong border around your rectangular form so that you may cut around it. Once you’ve finished designing the shape of your card, it’s time to add text boxes with your character’s or person’s name and other information. Create a little text box near the top of your card and fill it with the name of your character or person. Add a slightly larger text box towards the bottom of your card after that to finish it off. This will be the section where you will list the specifics of your character / person
  • Utilize a readable typeface so that the recipient’s name and contact information are simple to see
  • If your card is finished, you should have an open square section in the centre of it, which will be used to display the picture / artwork of your character.
  • 4Insert your artwork into the appropriate templates. You may have forgotten about the artwork or photographs that you had saved before. It’s now time to include them into your template. Open the folder in which your photographs are saved and drag your first character / person onto your template to complete the process. You can adjust the image’s proportions to ensure that it fits within the square space that you’ve left free on the screen. A name, an image, and a brief description should all be included on your card at this point. 5 Create a whole page of templates and give each one the personality and characteristics of a different person or character. Simply copy and paste your template into a new document to create several cards out of a single sheet of paper. If you’ve used a normal card size, your card template should be able to fit on a single page nine times without stretching. In the case of a bigger card size, print 4-6 card templates on a single sheet of paper.
  • Then select “Edit” in the top left hand corner, then “Select All,” and lastly do your copy and paste. To copy and paste your complete template (the rectangular shape and the text boxes combined), first click “Edit” in the upper left hand corner, then “Select All,” and then do your copy and paste. Fill up the blanks with the names and details of each of your characters in your templates so that each card represents a separate character or individual. Drag the image for each character / person into the templates and resize it to fit the space available
  • Once you’ve completed this process for each card template, you should have a page full of individual trade cards that are ready to be printed.
  • 6 Create a new set of trade cards. To ensure that your cards have the right consistency, use thicker paper. It is possible to get this sort of paper at any office supply store.
  • Instead of printing at home, you can save your documents to a flash drive or thumb drive and then bring them to your local printing store. Make certain you use a heavier weight paper for your printing project.
  1. 7Finish the rest of your cards. Make sure you cut out all of your cards after they have been printed. Carefully cut around the edges of your borders at a calm and steady pace. If you decide to laminate your cards, you may either purchase a laminating machine or take your cards to a speciality store where they will be laminated. Advertisement

Create a new question

  • Question Is it necessary for the picture to be done correctly in order for it to be recognizable? You are under no need to make it flawless. It should be one-of-a-kind
  • Question What materials would you recommend utilizing to create rare and super rare cards if you wanted to do so? Using a new template is one option, or you might use a grading system, such as C = common, UC = uncommon, R = rare, or UR = Ultra Rare
  • However, this is not recommended. Question How many cards should be contained in a single pack? Most trade cards include roughly 5 cards, but you may have as much as 12 cards if you want to go fancy. Question Can you tell me where I can obtain white card paper? The product can be purchased at any retail or craft supply store. Question How can I make my cards more resistant to tearing without laminating them? When making your cards, choose a sturdy material, such as card stock
  • Question What can I do to keep the back of the card from showing through to the front of the card? Glue a sheet of paper to the back of the picture (this can be the card back). In the event that you can still see through, keep adding paper until you can’t anymore. Question What is the best way to protect them and make them shine? Simply use a laminating machine to protect your documents. Simply take them to an office supply store or specialized store and have them properly laminated if you don’t already have one
  • Question What is the best way to have the cards have a reverse side? Make an additional page for your document that is identical in shape to the first, except that instead of the card fronts, you will have the card backs on the second page. Then pick “print double-sided” or “two to a page” from the drop-down menu that appears. Question What do you think of the design on the reverse of the card? Creating a design for it, printing it out, and sticking it to the back of the card is a good idea. Question What is the best way to laminate my trading cards using tape? Strips of tape should be placed across the card in rows, just slightly overlapping one another

  • Choose a game to play. Come up with a catchy, imaginative name for your trading card game. All of your cards should be turned over, and the name of the game should be written on the back of each one. Make a set of rules for your game to follow. Using this method, you will be able to teach it to your friends and family. Custom stamps for the backs of the cards can be ordered. It’s far easier to accomplish that than it is to create the logo from scratch every time, however it may be more expensive in the long run. (I paid $23 for mine.) Use card sleeves for whatever size card you prepared instead of laminating for a more affordable option to laminating. It’s possible to find transparent ones for Pokémon-sized cards on eBay or other comparable sites for a very low price. Remember to look at a few before making a decision, since people on these sites are known to take advantage of unsuspecting customers. Also, before purchasing a product, read customer feedback about it.

Ratings and Reviews

We have recently upgraded to the latest version and are pleased with: 1) the redesigned user interface; and 2) the improved performance. 2) the new card kinds that have been introduced 3. Save the image to your Camera Roll! We utilize this to turn our favorite family photographs into greeting cards that we can give to others. For Christmas, we received four twenty-packs (for a total of 80 cards) for our son and our daughter, who were thrilled with them. They felt the same way as their schoolmates did!

  • Improvements that have been requested include: 1.
  • For example, you cannot copy and paste into Notes.
  • You’ll need folders.
  • 3.
  • Make it possible to type longer words and to properly alter the fonts to accommodate larger characters.
  • More possibilities for cards that are landscape-oriented.
  • Take a picture using the camera roll.
  • So we’ll update the software so that it remembers where we were last in the Camera Roll and then start from there.
  • Make this a user-selectable option, with options like as “current photo” or “end of roll” or “the last photo you were on.” THANK YOU SO MUCH, ROOKIES, FOR SUCH A GREAT APP – AND FOR THE AMAZING CARDS!

(They look like Topps baseball cards, but they’re even better since they’re made from our images!)

Friendly service

I have to admit that I was a little perplexed when using this software. At first, I just attempted to figure things out on my own, without any guidance. Contact the customer service staff with any queries you may have or modifications you may want to make before placing your order. There is a good chance that you can do it. These cards may be designed to look exactly like the trade cards used by Major League Baseball. This will include creating a second side with more information. Service rating of 5 STARS.

Add colors

**Update** This is my third order through this app, and I continue to like it. I will mention that the fact that all colors are not available on all cards, and that certain cards cannot be zoomed in and out, renders some cards unusable depending on the picture or consistent colors. That is my one complaint, and there are no genuine rivals in my market, so I’m not too concerned about it. ** This is an app that I simply adore. It would be fantastic if all of the colors were accessible on all of the cards.

The level of customer service is exceptional.

Ratings and Reviews

This software had a lasting impression on me. Until I chose to alter the image I CREATED with the software I PAID FOR in order to create a collage of the cards to share with my friends, I didn’t think much about it. When I discovered that the PDF exports of the cards could not be modified (at least not without adding a step or three), I was shocked and disappointed. The PDF exports were locked and password secured, which prevented me from making any changes. I can’t think of any reason why this would be the case, or what the point of doing so would be, unless, as one other reviewer noted, they are concerned about someone taking the firm logo on the card from the wallet.

Take me out to the ballgame

In the past, I’ve experimented with personalized baseball card services and was generally dissatisfied with the outcomes of my efforts. The cards always had an unprofessional appearance to them, particularly on the backside. After purchasing this, I was expecting it to be more of the same; but, I have been blown away by the high-quality of the cards that Retro 75 is capable of producing. It is a dream come true for trainers like me to have this software. I can use the PDF result to create professional-quality business cards for my team, which I can then send to a reputable online printing firm.

In the words of U2, “even better than the real thing,” when printed on glossy paper, the cards are “even better than the real thing.” Please consider creating versions for football and basketball as well.

Grand Slam

A number of baseball analogies came to mind after I had played about with this for a bit. I’ll share some of them with you. Finally, I’d want to state unequivocally that Starr Cards is a grand slam, rather than just another home run in the game of life. The quality of the cards is out of this world excellent. Making a card from an image I took with my high-end Nikon and printing it out on the big format printer (2 feet by 3 feet) that we have at the office was fun and productive. Amazingly, all of the lines and text stayed razor crisp, and I found myself with the largest baseball card in the world, ready to be framed!

This is all-time All-Star caliber play (pun intended).

  • The logo is of the New York Yankees
  • The texture is Film Texture, and the font is League Gothic.

Step 1: Set Up the Photoshop Document

Make a new Photoshop document (FileNew) with a resolution of 600×750 pixels. Make a modest gradient on the Background layer by using the Gradient Tool (G) and the Transparency Tool (T).

Step 2: Creating the Card’s Background

Create a rectangle (360x504px) that will serve as a representation of the baseball card by selecting the Rectangle Tool (U). Fill it with a light color. With the Rectangle Tool, draw another rectangle (which will be the inner region where the content will be) around the first rectangle (U). When compared to the larger, white rectangle, the inner rectangle is 15px smaller on each side on each side. Fill up the inner rectangle with a light blue hue to make it stand out ( 1ba2f7). Reset your Foreground and Background colors to black and white by hitting D on your keyboard once you’ve finished editing.

  1. After that, navigate to FilterRenderClouds.
  2. Make sure the clouds layer is the active layer, then pick LayerLayer MaskReveal Selection from the LayerLayer Mask drop-down menu.
  3. Using our design, import theNew York Yankees Stadium picture (included in the lesson materials).
  4. Make use of the picture below to guide you through the process of positioning the image.
  5. Following that, change the Blend Mode to Multiply.
  6. Select the copied layer that is directly above the stadium layer and then select FilterStylizeFind Edges from the drop-down menu.
  7. Make use of the following configurations: While the “stadium glowing edges” layer is still selected as the active layer, select ImageAdjustDesaturate (Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + U) from the Layers drop-down menu.
  8. Select all stadium layers and group them together with the keyboard shortcut Cmd/Ctrl + G.
  9. Make sure you’re a member of the stadium group, then choose LayerLayer MaskReveal Selection from the drop-down menu.

Step 3: Isolating the Baseball Player

Open theJoe DiMaggiophoto in Photoshop after downloading it. Select Pen Tool (P) from the Tools Panel, Pathsmode from the Options Bar, and then carefully draw a circle around the player with your mouse cursor. Control-click/right-click on the route you made with the Pen Tool in the Paths Panel (WindowPaths), and then chooseMake Selection from the menu that displays.

Mr. DiMaggio will be copied and pasted into a separate Photoshop document so that we may further process him before including him into our design project.

Step 4: Coloring the Baseball Player

Let’s add some color to this black and white portrait of Joe DiMaggio. Create a selection around Joe DiMaggio by using the Cmd/Ctrl key while clicking on the layer’s thumbnail. Fill this layer with the color we will be using for the skin by selecting LayerNew Fill LayerSolid Color and clicking on it ( e2b97b). Color should be selected as the layer’s Blend Mode. Click on the vector mask thumbnail in the Layers Panel (the one on the right that is predominantly black) to make it the canvas on which we will be painting.

  • If you make a mistake, just pick the Eraser Tool (E) and paint back the portion of the image that was mistakenly masked.
  • Remove the navy blue color from the subject’s face, hands, baseball bat, and shoes by using the Brush Tool (B) to the vector mask.
  • It’s quite basic and straightforward.
  • ( ff9253).
  • This will allow us to achieve more stronger colors on the shoes, socks, and sleeves by blending the colors together.
  • Change the Blend Mode to Soft Light this time.
  • Cmd/Ctrl + E will select all of the layers and combine them into a single layer.

Step 5: Place the Baseball Player on Card

For starters, reduce the size (scale it down) and move the player into the desired place. Copy the baseball player layer twice more and change the Blend Mode of the cloned layers to Multiply to complete the effect. Then, choose the layer that is immediately above the original baseball player layer and apply the FilterStylizeFind Edges filter. Reduce the Opacity of this layer to a value of 20%. After that, choose the other cloned layer by clicking on it (which should be on top of the first duplicated layer).

By hitting Cmd/Ctrl + I, you may invert the colors of the layer.

We were able to obtain an illustrated appearance for the baseball player without having to paint it by hand, which saved us a lot of time and effort.

Then, using LayerLayer MaskReveal Selection, you may conceal elements of the baseball player that are outside of the inner region of the card by selecting them and clicking on them.

Step 6: Add Text and Logo to the Card

Grab the Pen Tool (P), selectShape Layersmode from the Options Bar, and then draw the form at the bottom of the card, as seen in the illustration below. Using blue paint, fill in the outline of the shape ( 023b9b). If you don’t already have the free League Gothic font installed, you may get it here and install it. Add some text to the card by selecting it and using the Horizontal Type Tool (T). Make use of the accompanying graphic to guide you through the font settings. Take a picture of the New York Yankees logo and insert it into our project.

Step 7: Adjusting the Card Colors

We’re going to make some changes to the color of the card now by adding a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer to the image. This will alter the colors of the card, giving it a worn, old appearance. Select LayerNew Adjustment LayerHue/Saturation from the Layer drop-down menu. Saturation should be set to -50 percent.

Step 8: Old Print Texturing and Vintage Coloring

We will recreate the “old print,” the gritty texturing effect, and the antique colors of the original piece. Create a new layer (Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + N) on top of all the other levels by pressing the keyboard shortcuts. Choose orange (fc7500) as your foreground color, and use the Alt + Backspace keyboard shortcut to fill the newly created layer with this color. FilterNoiseAdd Noise with the Amount set to 10% and the Distribution set to Gaussian is a good choice (also make sure that theMonochromaticoption is checked).

  1. To make a selection around the card body layer mask (which is the white rectangle), use the Command/Control keys to click on it.
  2. Download this Film Texture and open it in Photoshop to see what it looks like.
  3. Change the Blend Mode of the film texture layer to Soft Light and reduce the Opacity of the layer to 30 percent to achieve the desired result in Photoshop.
  4. The film layer should have a layer mask applied to it, same to how we did it with the orange noise layer.
  5. That’s it, we’re done for the day!

Tutorial Summary

We accomplished a great deal in this tutorial. To get the final design, we used pictures, textures, blending modes, filters, and adjustment layers to create the final product. You learned how to use different design techniques such as coloring a black and white photo, creating a “old print,” grainy texturing effect using the Noise filter, reproducing an illustrated effect using Stylize filters, and more. You also learned how to use adjustment layers to control the colors of the scene, among other things.

Why I Make Custom Cards

I recall the first time I made a bespoke greeting card for someone. Simply to see what people thought of it, I went to a card show with some of them a few months after I started doing it just to see how they would respond. I could see right away that I was going to get a diverse range of replies to my question. Some appeared to be upset, some appeared to be perplexed, while others appeared to be delighted. When I say “yes, I produce personalized baseball cards” in conversation with others, they scrunch their noses at me as if they have no idea what I’m talking about.

  • I have never heard so much dissatisfaction expressed by members of the collecting community.
  • From churning out what appears to be 100 distinct releases a year with uninspired designs, to collation concerns, to redemption issues, and everything in between, there is something for everyone.
  • Despite the fact that they are all lovely patterns, it appears as though they should all be part of the same collection.
  • When it arrived, I discovered that I had been completely incorrect on both points.
  • In my mind, they all appeared too similar to one another!
  • The same photo with a new card design in the background and in ten various colors, with one of them being the all-powerful 1 of 1, it appears that we are being pushed to buy each year.
  • Even 1/1 serial numbered cards (yes, there are such cards!) and patches are no longer considered unusual.

Heck, even the “big” cards that were formerly included in mid-range packs are no longer considered noteworthy due to the oversupply of high-end goods that are continually being developed and contain just high-end cards as their primary content.

When I see a card that I like, half of me hopes that Jose Canseco is on it simply so I can appreciate how it looks, but the other half of me groans since it is yet another card with the same photo as the year before and 20 color variants to hunt out.

While I have no intention of giving up collecting anytime soon, I am becoming increasingly disillusioned with each new release and am becoming a little more selective in what I purchase for my collection.

As a result, for me, this is where customs comes into play.

There is a void where more cards are being created, but less people are scratching that collecting “itch.

This is frustrating to me.

Because 5 distinct varieties isn’t even close to being enough to make a rainbow.

1997 The most advanced Atomic Refractor employing discarded wax images Die cut from Cramer’s Choice with a few embellishments Others that you are unlikely to see in packs anytime soon include dual “pawtograph” / dog-worn sweater relic books, which are as follows: Alternatively, you could use a relic that one of your favorite players was known to chew on: Topps, please, don’t be ridiculous!

  • Possibly another reason why customs is so enjoyable for me is because every one of the buildings has a unique history that relates to the way it was constructed.
  • I tend to feel that some of the new cards just feel soul-less when compared to their earlier counterparts.
  • Remember the highly photoshopped Topps/Bowman cards that I mentioned above that look like they could all be in the same set?
  • I’ve said this line before and I’ll probably say it again, but while I was bummed Jose wasn’t included, I’m glad he wasn’t now so I could have a go at it.
  • I get it.
  • I don’t know, but it sings to me.
  • I came up with my own.

In case you can’t tell, there is a baseball stadium, mountains, asteroids about to hit the earth … you name it, it is in there.

Naming the card is half the fun!) and put your favorite player on it: Ehhh…wrong guy.

There it is!

Oh no!

To which we arrive with this: I thought I could amp it up a bit with some holofoil, so I did.

The card above had a gold ink signature, and I remembered that I had Jose sign some silver and gold ink blanks for me last year.

Take a closer look: The silver signature paired up very nicely with the card I came up with “Behind the Plate” The entire player, ball, logo and lettering all seem to GLOW while shifting the rainbow colors depending upon how you hold it.

Finally, when a card that is produced by one of the big boys, it is a 1 of 1 and you missed it, I’ve gotta say that is a BIG motivation to create something truly unique.

I was unable to grab it, but figured I might as well make a truly unique button card for myself.

This card means a lot to me.

Does this card have soul to me?

The longer I do this, the more I find that these customs mean to me, and the more I hear what they mean to those who I make them for.

They won’t ever have a “book value” but that is fine by me.
