How to Watch the 2021 MLB Playoffs Without Cable

Attempts have been made by Major League Baseball to return to normal in 2021 with a full-season schedule (even though some positive Covid-19 tests have gotten in the way). Because there will only be 10 teams in the postseason this year, as opposed to the extended 16-team field last year, the playoffs will also seem more typical this year. The challenge of making it beyond the regular season will be more tough for clubs this year, and winning the World Series — well, that’s always difficult. Fortunately, watching the playoffs without cable is far less difficult.

Price Channels Free Trial

2 $5.99 – $85.96 68 – 88 7 or 30 days See Offer

What Channels Are the MLB Playoffs On?: How to Watch Red Sox vs. Astros and Dodgers vs. Braves Without Cable

The most convenient method to watch the MLB playoffs without cable is to subscribe to a streaming service that provides access to the networks you are familiar with and like from cable — although without the extremely unappealingly expensive cable bill. However, channel selection may differ from provider to service, so you must be cautious while comparing services.

To ensure that you can watch all of the networks that broadcast live MLB postseason activity, you should check your streaming capabilities. So, what are the channels in question? The World Series is a baseball tournament held every four years in the United States (Atlanta Braves vs. Houston Astros)

  • MLB Playoffs on FOX: When it comes to baseball fans, FOX is a major thing during the postseason. A number of important postseason games will be shown on the network, and it is an absolute must for the World Series, with every game of the series being broadcast on FOX.

ALCS is an acronym for the American League of Climbers (ALCS) (Boston Red Sox vs. Houston Astros)

  • A deal between FOX and FS1 will allow FS1 to share coverage of the American League playoffs with MLB Network.

NLCS stands for National League of Cities and States (Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Atlanta Braves)

  • TV station TBS broadcasts all of the National League postseason games, including the NL Wild Card Game and the NL Championship Series.

ALDS is an abbreviation for the acronym for “Alternative Learning and Development System.” ALDS is an acronym that stands for “Alternative Learning and Development System” (Boston Red Sox vs. Tampa Bay Rays; Chicago White Sox vs. Houston Astros)

  • FS1 and MLB Network will broadcast some of the ALDS games
  • MLB Network will broadcast some of the ALDS games.

NLDS is an abbreviation for National League of Democratic Socialists (Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants;Atlanta Braves vs. Milwaukee Brewers) Wild Card in the AL (New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox)

  • ESPN: The American League Wild Card Game will be shown live on ESPN. However, it is the only MLB postseason game that will be shown on ESPN this year. A second “Statcast” of the same game is shown on ESPN2 as a backup.

In the National League, there is a wild card (St. Louis Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers) Baseball fans will want to concentrate their attention on FOX, which will broadcast every game of the World Series once the Wild Card Games, Division Series, and Championship Series have concluded.

How to Watch the MLB Playoffs Online and Over the Air Without Cable

Now that you know which networks broadcast exciting Major League Baseball playoff games, you’ll need to figure out how to watch them without cable. The most convenient method is to sign up for a live TV streaming service. Live TV streaming services, which are sometimes referred to as “skinny bundles” because of their condensed channel options (as well as their condensed price tags), are essentially improved versions of traditional cable or satellite services. The services are available online and on a variety of devices, and they provide excellent channels without the bloat associated with cable.

  • We’ll go through some of our favorite thin bundles in the section below, as well as talk about free over-the-air television.
  • You should be aware, however, that if you have a pay TV subscription as well as the MLB.TV app, that you may log in using your pay TV credentials to enable livestreams of postseason games.
  • Here’s how you watch the Major League Baseball playoffs without having to pay for cable.
  • DIRECTV Stream is a live television streaming service that is mostly owned by AT T.
  • For those who want to watch the MLB Playoffs live, the AnyDIRECTV Stream subscription option is an excellent alternative.
  • DIRECTV Stream provides access to every channel that you’ll need to watch playoff baseball, including the MLB Network.
  • Hulu + Live TVprovides a plethora of excellent channels, including the vast majority of baseball stations that baseball fans are interested in at this time of year: FOX, FS1, ESPN, and TBS.
  • For sports aficionados, fuboTV promotes itself as the greatest live TV streaming service available.
  • FOX, FS1, ESPN, and MLB Network are among the channels available on fuboTV.
  • FuboTV will be a good choice for American League fans, but fans of the National League may want to go elsewhere because, without TBS, fuboTV will be unable to broadcast the National League Wild Card game and the National League Championship Series.
  • Try There is a slim bundle called ItSling TV that is meant to meet your needs.

FOX, FS1, TBS, MLB Network, and ESPN are among the channels available with Sling TV. That’s a fantastic line-up for baseball enthusiasts.

YouTube TV

You Tube TV is Google’s contribution into the skinny-bundle competition, and it’s a deserving contender. TBS, MLB Network, ESPN, and FOX are among the channels available on YouTube TV, which also has an excellent and user-friendly interface. More information on what to anticipate from this service may be found in our YouTube TV review.

Free Over-the-Air TV

Due to the fact that FOX owns the World Series broadcast rights, the most important games of the postseason will appear on the network’s main network. This implies that cord-cutters will be able to watch the big games for free on television. With an antenna, you’ll be able to pick up FOX (as well as the other major networks) for free over the air in most regions throughout the country. You may use our handy antenna guide if you’re not sure which antenna is best for your needs.

MLB Gameday Audioand Other Radio Solutions

We enjoy the MLB.TV streaming service, but it is not possible to watch playoff games with only MLB.TV – the service requires a pay TV subscription in order to view postseason games. However, there is some good news: MLB Audio is included with your MLB.TV subscription, so you can listen to the games all the way through the postseason with no interruptions. That means you can use the MLB At Bat app to listen to your local radio broadcasters call each game (none of that “unbiased” crap — and no Joe Buck — will be available).

If you aren’t set on listening to local radio broadcasts, you might instead tune in to ESPN Radio’s nationwide coverage of the events.

You could, of course, just use a conventional radio if you wanted.

MLB radio broadcasts are particularly well suited to baseball, and if you have never tried listening rather than watching, you should give it a try!

Can I Watch the MLB Playoffs on Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, or Chromecast?

We enjoy the MLB.TV streaming service, but it is not possible to watch playoff games with just MLB.TV – the service requires a pay TV subscription in order to access postseason games. However, there is some positive news to report: MLB Audio is included with your MLB.TV subscription, so you can listen to the games all the way through the postseason without missing a single play. Through the MLB At Bat app, you’ll be able to hear your local radio broadcasters call each game (none of that “unbiased” nonsense, and no Joe Buck, either).

Listening to ESPN Radio’s national coverage is a good alternative if local radio broadcasts are not a priority for you right now.

Naturally, you could also use a standard radio to do the same thing.

The game will almost certainly be carried on your local ESPN Radio affiliate station. MLB radio broadcasts are particularly well adapted to baseball, and if you have never tried listening rather than watching, you should give it a try.

More to Watch for Fans of the MLB Playoffs

If you enjoy watching postseason baseball, you have good taste in sports. However, regular-season Major League Baseball action can be a lot of fun as well. It’s not quite as exciting to watch a random June game as it is to see a September playoff game, but it’s still a fun time regardless of the outcome. If you want to watch regular-season baseball without having to pay for cable, our guide to viewing MLB without cable might be of assistance.

2021 MLB playoffs: How to watch and stream all the World Series games

Joc Pederson and the Atlanta Braves are prepared to compete in the World Series in 2021 – and so should you be. Image courtesy of Daniel Shirey/MLB Photos/Getty Images The Major League Baseball playoffs in 2021 will culminate in the World Series in 2021. The Atlanta Braves will take on the Houston Astros in a best-of-seven series in the Fall Classic. Fox will broadcast each and every game. In the end, there is just one huge question (apart from whether team will win): How are you planning on watching – and streaming – all of the action?

  • What is Hulu Plus Live TV?
  • Perhaps something completely different, such as a digital-TV antenna?
  • TV watchers with adequate-sized cable-TV or satellite bundles should have little issue keeping up with all of the activity on the field.
  • So be prepared – and continue reading.

YouTube TV

Photographs courtesy of Omar Marques/SOPA Images/LightRocket/Getty Images (An illustration in picture form) With a monthly subscription of $65 a month, YouTube TV’s standard package provides access to more than 85 live-TV channels, including local TV stations such as Fox and CBS, depending on your service region. (On the other hand, depending on your service region, you may be unable to get your local television channels, including Fox.) The same as with the other live-TV services listed below are no installation fees, no equipment fees, and no contracts to be signed.

Users of Roku devices should be aware that YouTube TV is not presently accessible in the Roku channel store.

When this article was published, YouTube TV was providing new customers a free trial, after which they would receive a $10 reduction off a monthly membership fee (for the first three months).

(subscription required)

DirecTV Stream

DirecTV is a satellite television service (screenshot) The freshly announced, renamed live-TV streaming service (formerly known as AT T TV) follows the same model as YouTube TV, which offers no contracts, no hassles, and a plethora of channels. Furthermore, cable veterans will be familiar with the company’s tiered bundles and pricing. As far as the World Series in 2021 is concerned, any of the monthly subscriptions offered by DirecTV Stream will suffice – subject to availability in your service region, of course.

Price ranges for DirecTV Streaming services begin at $70 per month. Watch the MLB Playoffs on DirecTV Streaming in 2021. (subscription required)

Hulu Plus Live TV

Hulu is accessible through Facebook. In addition to more than 75 channels, a typical Hulu Plus Live TV subscription (which is normally priced at $65 per month) provides access to your local Fox station (if one exists). Hulu Plus Live TV has an advantage over its competitors in that it offers on-demand programming. Hulu’s standard, ad-supported service, which includes its original programming, such as “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “Only Murders in the Building,” is included. You may get a list of the most recent shows on Hulu by clicking here.

Watch the Major League Baseball playoffs on Hulu Plus Live TV in 2021.

FuboTV

Through Facebook, you may watch Hulu movies. In addition to more than 75 channels, a typical Hulu Plus Live TV subscription (which is normally priced at $65 per month) provides access to your local Fox station (if it exists). There is one advantage that Hulu Plus Live TV has over its competitors: it is free. Hulu’s normal, ad-supported service, which includes its original programming, such as “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “Only Murders in the Building,” is also available. Here is a list of the most recent programs available on Hulu.

Hulu Plus Live TV will broadcast the MLB playoffs in 2021.

Sling TV

Sling TV may be accessed using Facebook. Fox may be available in your coverage region if you subscribe to Sling TV’s $35-a-month “Blue” tier, which includes more than 40 channels for $35 per month. Currently, Sling TV was giving its “Blue” plan to new consumers at a discounted rate of just $10 for the first month as of the time of publishing. Sling TV will broadcast the Major League Baseball playoffs in 2021. (subscription required)

Indoor HD digital TV antenna

Amazon is a great place to get it. This amplified, indoor HD digital TV antenna from U Must Have will transmit the live World Series games broadcast by Fox to your HDTV screen – as well as everything else offered by the other free, digital channels in your area – for a one-time fee of only $29. There is no monthly charge or subscription required. Simply connect the U Must Have to your television and sit back and enjoy. It’s a throwback to the television viewing experience of the twentieth century, but with 21st century technology.

To avoid making things more complicated, keep in mind that the reason cable TV became a thing was because some locations just did not receive adequate television reception.

And one more thing: as previously said, live-TV streaming services cannot ensure that you will receive all of your local television stations.

For example, if you reside in a region where your YouTube TV subscription does not include Fox, you will need a digital antenna in order to (hopefully) pick up the free-TV channel. An indoor HD digital TV antenna is required, and costs $29 per year.

MLB.TV

Hunter Martin is a Getty Images contributor. Our final and most straightforward choice is to subscribe to MLB.TV, which allows you to watch every single World Series game – no ifs, ands, or buts about it. There is one important condition, however: if you are a real cord-cutter (i.e., you do not have a television provider), you will not be able to watch the games live. (Local-TV bans will apply to MLB.TV viewers who do not subscribe to a television service provider, so nothing is perfect.) The World Series games will be available to stream on MLB.TV for all customers 90 minutes after they have concluded on the network.

When this article was published, a new MLB.TV membership could be purchased for $24.99.

Over the air

As long as you have a working over-the-air antenna and reside within range of your local Fox television affiliate, you will be able to watch the World Series without spending a single penny when it begins on Oct. 26. Not in the viewing area of your local Fox affiliate’s broadcast tower? No problem. There are still lots of choices available to you, so don’t be concerned. Martyn Williams is a member of the IDGA. It should be possible to tune in to most broadcast TV stations in your location using an indoor TV antenna, such as this Winegard Flatwave, however it will not be able to resolve MLB blackout laws.

Sling TV

Sling TV is your best bet if you want to watch the postseason without having to pay for a cable subscription. In fact, you can get into a considerable number of games for less than the price of a single postseason ticket in most cases. It costs $20 for the first month and $50 per month if you desire to continue after that to get ESPN, TBS, Fox Sports 1, and local Fox affiliates in select cities as part of the Sling Orange + Sling Blue bundle. Subscribing to the Sports Extra subscription, which costs an extra $11 per month, will get you access to MLBN.

Because there is no obligation, you may cancel your subscription as soon as the World Series concludes, although you may discover that you do not want to.

TVA is a slingshot. A Sling TV subscription is one of the most cost-effective ways to watch practically every game of baseball’s postseason on the internet.

At the time of writing, DirectTV Stream (previously AT T TV Now) and DirecTV Now (formerly DirecTV) are both offering ESPN, FS1, TBS, and MLBN as part of their $85-per-month Choice package, which provides access to more than 90 channels of television. Fox is only accessible in a few markets, so be careful to check to see if yours is one of them before you decide to give up your antenna service. Although the corporation makes this information difficult to obtain, you may check to see if DirecTV Stream delivers the local broadcast TV channels in your region by entering your zip code at this website and clicking “Check Now.” DirecTV Now is a satellite television service provided by DirecTV.

Hulu with Live TV and YouTube TV

Hulu with Live TV and YouTube TV, in contrast to its competitors, do not provide any subscription levels with their live TV services. It costs $55 per month for the first three months and $65 per month after that for each service that provides a one-size-fits-all strategy. When all things are equal in terms of cost, the only thing that separates the two services is the MLB Network, which is available on YouTube TV but not on Hulu with Live TV.

FuboTV

Fubo TV is a television network that broadcasts in real time. In its evolution from a soccer-centric streaming service to one that provides a wide spectrum of entertainment, FuboTV still falls short in terms of baseball content, with only a few games available each week. With the Starter plan, which costs $65 per month, you can watch Fox, FS1, and ESPN. Although it does not include TBS or MLBN in any of its subscriptions, you will be unable to watch numerous division series games and the whole National League Championship Series if you do not subscribe to one of these services.

MLB.tv

If you’re a member to MLB.TV, you already have access to live streaming coverage of playoff games—sort of. Despite the fact that Major League Baseball’s subscription service provides live feeds of every regular season out-of-market game, the league’s blackout restrictions prevent it from providing live streams of the playoffs and the World Series anywhere in the United States or Canada during those events. As a substitute, users in blacked-out locations will be able to watch archival feeds of postseason games about 90 minutes after the game has concluded.

You should consider becoming a subscriber, even if you aren’t presently a member, because it is the most cost-effective method to watch the postseason: as of right now, MLB is providing memberships for $25 that will allow you to watch the rest of the season’s games (on 90-minute delay, of course).

Batter up!

There is still a scarcity of live streaming from Major League Baseball (MLB). However, as the NFL and NBA continue to increase their online watching alternatives, it is hoped that the league would reconsider its restrictions in the next seasons. Meanwhile, you may use these cable options, together with our guide to second-screen baseball applications, to set up your own Diamond Club, from where you can watch baseball’s top ten teams battle it out for the right to represent their league in the World Series in October.

MLB Playoffs Schedule

The 2021 season didn’t turn out to be all that different from the mini-season in 2020. An important distinction is that the Red Sox will improve from a.400 season in 2020 to an.568 season in 2021, securing a wildcard place in the process. In a similar vein, the Giants failed to finish above.500 in 2020 but finished first in the league in 2021 with.660. Of all, the reigning champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers, were only one game behind, so the postseason appears to be quite intriguing. The Houston Astros defeated the Boston Red Sox 4-2 in the American League Championship Series to go to the World Series.

The Atlanta Braves defeated the Houston Astros in the World Series, 4-2 in extra innings.
