How to Watch Kansas City Royals MLB Games Live in 2022

It is possible to watch Kansas City Royals games live online or on television without having to subscribe to an expensive Cable TV package or pay for a satellite dish. In most cases, these games will be broadcast on Fox Sports Midwest, however this may vary based on the schedule, the nature of the game, or national interest.

Live StreamingKansas City Royals Games

In addition to Fox Sports Midwest, the Kansas City Royals broadcast the majority of their games on NBC Sports Kansas City. When it comes to streaming services, regional sports networks (RSNs) are rare, and when they do exist, they are generally only available for a premium charge or as part of a package deal. The following are the live streaming providers that provide access to Fox Sports Midwest: It is possible that receiving this channel will incur an additional premium on top of the standard plan pricing.

The Major League Baseball also offers, which broadcasts all out-of-market games for all clubs. Unfortunately, if you live inside what is deemed the team’s “home territory,” you will not be able to watch any Kansas City Royals games on our site because of blackout restrictions. If you find yourself trying to watch a game on MLB.TV that has been blacked out, you will need to use a virtual private network (VPN) to disguise your location.

Removing LocalBlackoutRestrictions

If the Major League Baseball attempts to block live streaming of Kansas City Royalsgames owing to the fact that you are within their home viewing region, you may circumvent the restriction by using a VPN. When you use a VPN, or virtual private network, the specific location of your house is hidden from view. So that teams cannot detect whether you are within their “blackout radius,” you are free to watch any sports team of your choosing. NordVPN is our top-rated VPN service, as well as one of the most well-regarded in the industry.

  1. I can testify for the fact that they function for this specific use-case because I have personally tested them.
  2. You receive an IP address that is registered from a distant location (such as Germany, Italy, or Seattle) after purchasing their service.
  3. This IP address serves as a decoy for the many big sports teams who seek to “blackout” their streaming services for those of us who want to just watch it on our televisions or laptops using our regular IP addresses.
  4. In the context of viewing television and your local sports teams, virtual private networks (VPNs) are not unlawful, and anybody may use a VPN service to watch sports without worry of the authorities showing up at their door.

The act of accessing the web or streaming shows using another IP address is totally legal, and it is something that even the greatest corporations in the world do on a regular basis. We would never encourage someone to hide behind a VPN service in order to engage in unlawful activity.

Option for Kansas City Royals fans who’ve cut the cord is advancing, but may be costly

Many Royals and Sporting Kansas City supporters who cancelled their cable subscriptions prior of the 2021 season have expressed their dissatisfaction with not being able to watch games live on television. Last year, YouTube TV, Dish Network, Hulu with Live TV, and other streaming services ceased showing Bally Sports Kansas City (at the time, the channel was known as Fox Sports Kansas City), leaving sports fans with little choices for watching their favorite teams. Some Royals and Sporting KC supporters, on the other hand, are about to get some good news.

An update on those plans was provided by the New York Post, which stated that Sinclair was negotiating with an investment bank to fund more than $250 million for the app.

There are two things to keep in mind.

In comparison, a one-year membership to MLB.TV, which excludes games from local areas, would cost you $129.99.

An anonymous source told the Post that Sinclair expects to have 4.4 million streaming clients by 2027 and that it would achieve break-even status on streaming costs by 2024. As a point of reference, here are some streaming statistics from

  • Hulu with Live TV had 4 million users as of February 11, 2021
  • YouTube TV had more than 3 million subscribers as of October 29, 2020
  • Sling TV had 2.374 million customers as of March 31, 2020
  • And others.

Fans living outside of Kansas City may be out of luck if the app is only made accessible in locations where Sinclair holds the rights to broadcast sports, according to the Post report. For a fan in Des Moines, MLB.TV will not broadcast games involving the Royals, Cubs, Twins, Cardinals, White Sox, or Brewers. For example, a Bally Sports Kansas City app would be welcomed by a fan in Iowa, but it appears that such an app is not currently accessible.

Good for fans

Greg Bouris, a former communications director for the Major League Baseball Players Association, told the Washington Post that if Sinclair’s app proves to be popular, sports organizations may suffer a short-term financial hit. This is due to the fact that it would reduce income for cable companies. On the other hand, Sinclair president/CEO Christopher Ripley stated on an earnings call earlier this year that he expects the direct-to-consumer app for cord-cutters would complement existing cable consumers.

  1. In addition, Bouris believes that a direct-to-consumer app would be beneficial to fans.
  2. “I could see this being really beneficial to the customer,” who would no longer be required to subscribe to cable television in order to watch their local teams.

Cord-cutting Royals fans may not be able to watch the team this year

With just over two weeks until Opening Day, Royals fans are anxious to see their team back on the field following the pandemic-shortened season in 2020. But for those that don’t have a cable subscription, it is looking like it will be very tough to see the Royals on television anytime soon. The Royals’ home games are broadcast on Fox Sports Kansas City, which has since been renamed as Bally’s Kansas City. Sinclair Broadcasting acquired them, as well as 21 other regional sports networks (RSNs), in the first quarter of 2019.

At the moment, AT T Now appears to be the only streaming service that does not require a cable membership and that offers access to the Sinclair RSNs.

Sinclair has made the following statement to a number of media sites in response to inquiries about whether a deal can be reached soon: “Sinclair remains committed to achieving a fair arrangement with both Hulu and YouTube TV to carry the FOX RSNs.” We have never requested unreasonable payments for these channels and will never do so.

As a result, we have no option but to conclude that neither Disney (which owns Hulu) nor Google (which owns YouTube) are prepared to engage in good faith conversations or reinstate the RSNs to their respective platforms at this time.

When questioned about this on an earnings call, Sinclair CEO Chris Ripley hemmed and hawed before delivering a direct answer, which in my opinion indicates that the company has made little progress.” Adding back regional sports networks to Hulu Live and YouTubeTV doesn’t make a whole lot of financial sense from a business perspective.

Carriage costs for Sinclair’s channels are charged to service providers for the ability to broadcast their channels, and the fees can be rather significant in the case of sports.

To paraphrase, “a very small fraction of viewers from a streaming TV bundle really watch an RSN, 5 to 10 percent of subscribers,” says Gurwin.

With a monthly subscription rate as high as $65 per month, the services are more or less breaking even on the carriage fees that they must pay in order to carry all the channels in the bundle.” Sinclair is working on its own streaming application, but the specifics of what will be featured have remained a mystery thus far.

  • It is estimated that a direct-to-consumer app that does not require login credentials from a service provider would not be accessible until at least 2022, according to the Journal Sentinel.
  • Games in Kansas City have been blacked out in order for Major League Baseball to give more value to its broadcast partners and increase their income.
  • The Major League Baseball blackout map, which the league adheres to to the letter of the law.
  • Gershon Rabinowitz (@GershOnline) is a writer and blogger.
  • However, we are now well into the NBA season, and several teams that are shown on the same RSN as their MLB equivalent have remained inaccessible to cord-cutting fans for the entirety of the season.

Because baseball is making games unavailable to a younger generation of fans who watch games through streaming applications, the sport may be benefiting its short-term financial position at the price of its long-term health and viability.

Would you pay $23 a month to watch the Royals?

Would you be willing to pay $23 a month to see the Royals play baseball? According to The New York Post, that’s the amount that Sinclair Broadcasting, which owns Bally Sports Kansas City, is offering to potential investors for their own stand-alone streaming service. Sinclair is aiming to fund $250 million for the project, which is expected to be completed by the start of the next season of The Walking Dead.
